Chiefs star Nowell happy to be back

Exeter Chiefs star Jack Nowell says he has never "felt so good" on a rugby pitch after he marked his return to competitive action by claiming a try-double in Monday night's A League victory over London Welsh.

The England international has been sidelined since March with injuries to both his shoulder and knee, but he showed within minutes of his return that he was firing on all cylinders and itching to return to first team duty.

Eat breakfast for charity at RGB

The Exeter branch of RGB Building Supplies will be joining in with Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ on Friday 26th September by hosting a ‘Big Breakfast Morning’. Royal approval for Exeter School pupils

Three Economics A Level pupils from Exeter School have been highly commended in the prestigious Royal Economics Society Essay competition.

Max Brewer, Matthew Hills and Charlie Holmes wrote essays on one of six different topics, competing against over 1,600 entrants.

Upper Sixth Former Max was placed on the shortlist of final entrants, putting him in the top ten for his essay entitled: ‘Promoting growth and fighting poverty should be the priority in the developing world, not reducing greenhouse gases’.

Top chefs judge ‘cake-off’ competition

Sixteen bakers from South West Communications Group went head to head with a charity ‘cake-off’ competition.

The ‘cake-off’ event was the latest leg of a year-long inter-departmental competition.

Two people from each of the eight teams were invited to bake either a Victoria sponge or a cake of their choice.

The judges of the ‘cake-off’ were top chefs Michael Caines, from Gidleigh Park, and Matt Mason, from Jack in the Green, plus South West Communications Group’s CEO and chairman Tony Rowe.

Excitement is building for this year’s Natwest Venus Awards Devon with the announcement of the semi-finalists at a packed awards ceremony in Exeter.

More than a hundred women attended the event at the city’s award-winning restaurant Lloyd’s Kitchen, which provided complementary canapés for the nominees and has supported the awards from the beginning.
