The race is on to find the most dog-friendly business from the South West in the Kennel Club’s Be Dog Friendly awards 2014.

With only a month to go before the deadline for nominations, which close on 10th October, there is still time to shout about the places you like to eat, drink, stay, visit, shop and camp with your dog, as well as your favourite towns, beaches and places on the high street.

Free tours of fascinating city buildings

Some of Exeter’s most fascinating buildings will open their doors to the public free of charge later this week for Heritage Open Days.

Many of the venues participating are not usually open to the public or otherwise charge an entry fee. Running from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 September, Heritage Open Days is a unique opportunity to explore these sometimes hidden, often curious, and always interesting places. Ladies Night

Kitsons launch free legal surgery

Devon law firm Kitsons has launched a monthly drop-in Legal Surgery at the newly refurbished Exeter Library, offering local residents a free consultation on wills, powers of attorney, and probate issues.

Kitsons Private Client specialist Charlie Siegle will be available for 30 minute individual appointments on the third Wednesday of each month from Wednesday 17th September, between 1.00pm and 3.00pm at the city centre Library on Castle Street.

Planning applications for Jurassic Coast

Planning applications have been submitted at key locations on the Seaton Jurassic Coast.

Hotspots will be located at key entry points to Seaton and the Jurassic Coast including Fisherman’s Gap on the seafront, Axmouth Harbour, Seaton Hole and on the Axe Estuary Wetlands.

The current applications are for the erection of two large sculptured waves and interpretive pillars at Fisherman’s Gap, and for new timber decking creating a ship’s bow with seating and interpretative pillars to be erected at Axmouth Harbour.

Drugs lords gang jailed after covert police operation

A covert police operation has snared a sophisticated gang which flooded Devon with Class A drugs.

Operation Rosco was a long term investigation into the supply of cocaine and amphetamine into Devon and Cornwall.

Fifteen defendants in total have been sentenced under Operation Rosco. The majority were sentenced at Plymouth Crown Court on Monday 8 September.
