Have your say on future of Exeter's budget

People are being asked to help shape the future for Exeter.

Exeter City Council has launched a major public consultation as it looks to save a further £4 million over the next three years.

The authority wants to find out what services are most important to the people of Exeter at a time of deepening public spending cuts.

The City Council’s grant from central government has already shrunk from £12 million in 2011-12 to £7.7 million in the current financial year. Now it is bracing itself for further reductions, to around £5 million, by 2017-18.

So far the...

Stagecoach celebrates a golden year

Stagecoach South West celebrated the first anniversary of its flagship luxury Stagecoach Gold bus service, which connects Plymouth to the English Riviera on Tuesday (30 September).

Such is the success of this premium bus route that, in May of this year, Stagecoach responded to customer demand by doubling the frequency of buses between Plymouth and Torquay. Buses now run every 30 minutes, Mondays to Saturdays and up to every hour on Sundays.

In addition, commuters now benefit from a pre-9am arrival into Torquay and the last departure from Plymouth leaves at 10.30pm,...

Exeter Chiefs side to face Falcons

Exeter Chiefs may be odds-on with the bookmakers to clock up their fourth Aviva Premiership victory of the season at Newcastle Falcons this Sunday, but head coach Rob Baxter doesn’t quite see as simple as that.

Winless in their last 20 top flight games, the Chiefs head honcho insists the Falcons have little to lose and everything to gain ahead of his side’s latest trip to Kingston Park (3pm).

Such a pre-match warning is certainly creditable from Baxter, who will figure in his 500th league game as either an Exeter player or coach this weekend. However, at the same time his...
