On Saturday 6 December dozens of people dressed as Santa will abseil 100 feet off the Princesshay car park to raise money and awareness for homeless young people in Exeter.

The annual event is in its fifth year, and is hoping to once again raise thousands of pounds to support those without safe accommodation this Christmas, a time where amidst celebration, poverty is often at its worst.

The Santa Abseil, sponsored by local PR Company Attention Media and the Exeter Solicitors firm Gilbert Stephens, will help YMCA Exeter continue to provide 15,000 nights worth of accommodation and support for homeless young people across the city.

Peter Stephenson, CEO of YMCA Exeter said “Youth homelessness in Exeter is on the rise but, with a decline in the amount of housing support available, the amount of accommodation for young people is too low to meet the need. We believe that every young people should have a safe and supportive place to stay and with the support of the local Devon community through challenges like the Santa Abseil, we can make a significant difference to disadvantaged young lives.’

Limited abseiling slots are still available throughout the day with registrations open now at www.santaabseil.org.uk. Why not sign up to this high adrenaline challenge and help YMCA Exeter support a homeless young person this Christmas?
