Here at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre we're raising money for Children In Need at our 'Fight Night' Event.

The fitness team have recently undertaken pad boxing training and are now keen to show off their new skills, integrating boxing into a fantastic, circuit based, pad boxing challenge event!

When? Wednesday 19th November

Time? 6.00 - 7.00pm

Where? Main Sports hall, LMLC

Tickets? Now available at reception for a minimum donation of £2 to Children In Need.

Hospiscare support group co-ordinator retires

Exeter charity Hospiscare said a sad farewell to Barry Carpenter who has retired after 14 years as the support group co-ordinator.

During his time helping Hospiscare support groups across Exeter, East and Mid Devon, a total of £2.5m has been raised for the charity - including the Exeter group raising £1.25m.

At a farewell party Hospiscare chief executive Glynis Atherton praised Barry's hard work, support and encouragement and hands on approach to the role. She said the many extra hours he had given unpaid to the charity amounted to two years.

Exeter dentist backs calls for teeth brushing lessons

Nursery-age children should be given lessons in how to brush their teeth to try and stop the worsening dental health crisis in the UK.

The Exeter Dental Centre, located in the heart of the city, are backing experts at The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) which is urging local authorities to target children from the age of three – 12 per cent of whom are already eating too much sugar and showing signs of tooth decay – by going into schools to demonstrate how to brush teeth.

Nails and massages leads to £900 for cats

On Friday 17th October 2014 the Friends of Axhayes group held a charity pamper evening at the Cat & Fiddle Inn, Clyst St Mary, Nr Exeter. The doors opened at 6.45pm and treatments started at 7pm. Many local businesses provided short treatments such as mini facials, file and paint, hand & foot massages etc to help raise funds for Exeter Axhayes Cats Protection adoption centre. It became clear from the outset that the evening was going to be popular as soon the queue for booking treatments was quite long.
