Exeter dentist backs calls for teeth brushing lessons

Nursery-age children should be given lessons in how to brush their teeth to try and stop the worsening dental health crisis in the UK.

The Exeter Dental Centre, located in the heart of the city, are backing experts at The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) which is urging local authorities to target children from the age of three – 12 per cent of whom are already eating too much sugar and showing signs of tooth decay – by going into schools to demonstrate how to brush teeth.

On Friday 17th October 2014 the Friends of Axhayes group held a charity pamper evening at the Cat & Fiddle Inn, Clyst St Mary, Nr Exeter. The doors opened at 6.45pm and treatments started at 7pm. Many local businesses provided short treatments such as mini facials, file and paint, hand & foot massages etc to help raise funds for Exeter Axhayes Cats Protection adoption centre. It became clear from the outset that the evening was going to be popular as soon the queue for booking treatments was quite long.

EDDC welcomes supercomputer

Last week's announcement that the Met Office plans to install a supercomputer in a new building complex at Exeter Science Park has been welcomed enthusiastically by leading members of East Devon District Council.

New research from British Gas suggests that, unsurprisingly, many people in the South West (49%) are not looking forward to winter.
