Exeter is experiencing an unprecedented demand for high quality office space that must be met to maximise growing interest from businesses looking to invest in the city, according to leading property consultancy JLL.

Harry Potter joins forces with Exeter Cavern & Concrete Donkey for Exeter Pound

Exeter Pound has revealed its £E10 note will feature Exeter’s iconic Gandy Street, accompanied on the reverse by local band Concrete Donkey on stage at Exeter Cavern.

Daniel Hillier of Vision ICT captured the image of the band’s drummer Dave Parsons at a recent gig in the club.

Exeter Soup is a recipe for innovation

An innovative approach to delivering social enterprise projects through micro-granting (where people invest small amounts of money) is due to be launched in Exeter next month.

ExeterSOUP is an event aimed at promoting community-based development through crowd-funding, creativity, collaboration and fun, and will take place at St Sidwells Community Centre, Exeter, on Wednesday, 17 June, from 6pm-8.30.

One in three children have not heard a cow moo or a sheep baa up close

Hearing a real cow moo or a sheep baa for the first time is a special moment but a new survey of primary school children has revealed that this experience is becoming increasingly rare.

The results show that more than 1 in 3 children have never heard a sheep baa (37 per cent) or a cow moo (34%) up close, with thousands only experiencing it through their TV or computer screens. Devon FA to crowdfund cash for clubs

Devon Football Association are set to be the first FA in the UK to crowdfund money for its 635 clubs, 1,750 teams, supporting its 27,000 members across the County. Across the next 12 months Devon FA hopes its pioneering Crowdfunder campaign could raise thousands of pounds for local clubs in need of funding for a wide range of projects - from small sums for kit to larger capital projects. Bus operator Stagecoach announced today (3 June 2015) that it has appointed a new Managing Director of its South West bus operations.

The theme of this year’s Devon County Council’s exhibit gave Devon County show-goers the chance to get involved in helping their local community, as well as taking part in activities.

The council’s marquee at the 120th County Show focussed on communities and volunteering, with staff providing a host of information to visitors on ways to connect with their communities and to get more involved in local schemes, whilst also providing show-goers with lots of opportunities to participate in an array of activities.

Teams of young footballers from Exeter and the surrounding areas are invited to take part in a special Summer event, hosted by Devon Football Association.

The Mini Football Festival for Under 9 and Under 10s is sponsored by Fresha Café - and will take place at St Luke’s School in Exeter on Sunday, June 28. All matches will be played on astro turf.

Organiser Matt Eddy said: “This is a great chance for teams to get their football fix outside of the main season.

Devon country parks win top accolade

Two parks in Devon have received a top visitor attraction accolade.

The Grand Western Canal Country Park and Local Nature Reserve, and Stover Country Park, which are both managed by Devon County Council, have been awarded the prestigious Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for 2015.
