Her Hajesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary today published an inspection report into the child protection work carried out by Devon and Cornwall Police, following an inspection carried out in May 2015. Officers were called at 1pm on Saturday, 19 September, 2015 by coastguards after reports of man’s body was discovered floating in the water near Prawle Point, Salcombe.
An empty dinghy was seen by a member of the public and after a search of the area by the Lifeboat a body was found.
The local man in his 80s was given CPR at the scene but was pronounced dead.
His family have been informed and his death is not being treated as suspicious.
