Parents Claire and Mark Rider have donated photography equipment to the labour ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital to help families capture precious memories if their baby is born sleeping.

The couple founded the charity Ayrton’s Dream in memory of their son Aryton who they lost in May 2013. The charity aims to support families who suffer a similar bereavement on the Labour Ward at the RD&E and have recently funded the refurbishment of the Heartsease Room, a place set aside for parents who have a still born child.

Join Dartmoor National Park Ranger Simon Lee on Sunday 14 August 2016 as he leads a team of volunteers to continue working on the popular Templer Way walking route near Haytor.

The day runs from 10:30 until 3:30 and starts at the National Park Visitor Centre, Haytor.

The Templer Way follows the route by which granite was taken from the quarries in the Haytor area during the 1800s on an 18 mile journey to Teignmouth on the south coast.

Visitors to this year’s Devon County Show have named the local farming and food and drink businesses that they love. A survey carried out by rural solicitors Stephens Scown LLP at the show asked 480 visitors about their favourite food and drink brand, farm shop and farm attraction, as well as asking what people enjoyed most about the region. A wildlife garden and historic mill in the heart of Exeter will be opening its doors to the public for a special summer open day. The ‘Water and Wildlife’ event is being held at Cricklepit Mill, the headquarters of Devon Wildlife Trust, on Friday 12 August, 10am – 3pm.
