Come and join the Otter Nurseries team for our ‘spooktacular’ halloween magic show from 4 to 5pm. George the Magician will be entertaining children young and old with spooky spells and mystical magic.

Crackdown on antisocial driving in Exmouth

Action has been taken against almost a dozen young motorists following a crackdown on antisocial driving at Exmouth seafront.

Exmouth Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out two operations over the summer to target young car enthusiasts who traditionally gather at the seafront.

The operation, run with the assistance of roads policing and response officers, was conducted in response to concerns from the public about speeding and dangerous driving.

Two play areas in Teignbridge have become the latest ‘smoke free’ zones in a bid to encourage residents and visitors to stub out smoking where children play.

Play areas in Hennock and Little Week Close, Dawlish join existing ones at The Den, Teignmouth, Courtenay Park and Decoy Country Park, both in Newton Abbot in trialling a smokefree code which asks that children be allowed to play in a smoke free environment.

A short film telling the story of Exeter Cathedral has been nominated for a BAFTA Children’s Award. “An Introduction to Exeter Cathedral” was announced as a nominee by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) yesterday, ahead of the awards ceremony which takes place in November. Devon is to host a temporary Home Office respite facility for vulnerable young refugees arriving from Calais.

Emergency accommodation for up to 70 young people leaving the refugee camp in Calais has been secured in Devon ahead of its imminent closure by the French Government.
