A special screening of a landmark film will be held to mark the 20th anniversary of Exeter's Bill Douglas Cinema Museum this week.

First released 30 years ago in 1987, Comrades was made by director and collector Bill Douglas and is now regarded as a masterpiece, following years when it wasn’t seen by film-goers. This year also marks two decades since the museum, which holds the collection that Bill put together with his friend Peter Jewell, was opened to the public.

Exeter chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards is inviting businesses across Exeter to take part in its 14th annual Really Big Quiz. Police appeal after man assaulted in Exmouth

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which took place at 3.30am on Sunday 9th April 2017, near the National Westminster bank on Rolle Street, Exmouth.

A 29-year-old man was assaulted by an unknown male leaving the victim with a serious head wound.

DC Rob Poole of Exmouth CID said: “We would like to reassure the public that we consider this to be an isolated incident. However, we are still keen to speak to anyone who saw this assault, which was serious.”

Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple, would like to thank everyone who donated gifts for its children and families this Easter

The hospice has been inundated with lots of Easter goodies, including a chocolate bonanza donated by members of the Exeter Bike Club and Taw & Torridge Bike Club who visited the hospice at the Easter weekend to deliver their gifts.

Welcome reception for holiday park guests

A celebration with a traditional Devonshire cream tea marked the opening of a popular East Devon holiday park’s new reception area.

The work at Oakdown Touring & Holiday Caravan Park, which is located outside Sidmouth, took five months to complete and employed 20 local tradespeople.

The new reception, which was officially opened by Neil Parish MP, is now ready to welcome guests to the park for the 2017 holiday season. The park’s café has also been refurbished as part of the improvement work.

Exeter School is celebrating winning a prestigious national award at the F1 in Schools Final.

Exeter School's most successful F1 in Schools team, Vulcan, competed in the Development Class National Final at Silverstone on 29 March, where they were awarded the Innovative Thinking Award.

Hooley to leave the Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs can confirm that fly-half Will Hooley is to leave the club at the end of the season and will move to RFU Championship side Bedford Blues.
