This was the dramatic moment Exeter Chiefs supremo Tony Rowe was sent off his own pitch!

He was just seconds into a substitution when the whistle was blown for a misdemeanour in the scrum.

Mr Rowe protested his innocence but referee Tony ‘Spreaders’ Spreadbury brandished a yellow card.

It was the shortest debut in Exeter Chiefs history.

The club chairman was playing in a fun testimonial game for fly-half Gareth Steenson which was watched by an estimated 8,000 fans at Sandy Park.

Local seafood company goes green to improve land and marine environments

The Blue Sea Food Company, a Paignton based sustainable crab fishing company, are on a mission to go green and, thanks to an installation by renewable energy company Beco Energy, have considerably reduced their carbon emissions.

The new system has increased total power generation from 75.64kW to a fantastic 269.61kW, saving 117 metric tons of carbon emissions every year, meaning less impact on both land and marine environments in the local area.

More than 600 children and teenagers are being treated for a type of diabetes normally only seen in adults aged over 40 – an increase of 14 per cent in a year – which reinforces the need for urgent action on obesity, councils warn today. More people than ever can go off the beaten track to explore the countryside as the National Trust launches an all-terrain mobility scooter that can go ‘off road’, opening up the Killerton Estate to people with limited mobility. Rugby royalty helped Gareth Steenson kick off his testimonial year last night.

Among the stars of the sport joining him for the launch were David Flatman, Richard Hill, Danny Grewcock and Mike Tindall.

Former Chiefs players at the Sandy Park event were Chris Budgen, Tommy Hayes and Bryan Rennie.

And England legend Jonny Wilkinson, who couldn’t be there on the night, sent a special video message.

The man charged with overseeing Gareth Steenson’s testimonial game at Sandy Park this Saturday (AUGUST 12), Tony ‘Spreaders’ Spreadbury has heaped praise on the Exeter Chiefs.
