HMS Exeter Association gathers to remember 70th anniversary of the dedication of the Exeter Window

On Saturday 3rd March 2018 people will come from all over the world to take part in a Civic Reception, Remembrance & wreath laying Service in Exeter, to remember the 70th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Exeter Window.

HMS Exeter was involved in one of the most significant sea battles of the 2nd World War; The Battle of the River Plate. Following that battle, HMS Exeter went onto further battles and met its demise at the hands of the Japanese on 1st March 1942, with the loss of 50 men. During 3 years in Japanese POW camps, a further 150 crew lost their lives. Survivors...

Heroes of caring professions recognised at regional awards

The work of the region’s professional carers and care sector organisations is set to be honoured at the first Outstanding Care Awards for Devon and Cornwall.

Launched by Kelly Harper and Kat Green, Founders and Partners of the South West based Care Network Group, the awards will showcase and celebrate the exceptional individuals and organisations dedicated to caring for many of the region’s most vulnerable people.

Devon County Council, Torbay Council and Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are amongst organisations backing the initiative.

Further problems for Exeter commuters

There was more bad news today (Feb 28th) for Exeter commuters who have faced travel disruption around Topsham Road in recent days.

The busy route has been closed due to a burst water main caused by the freezing conditions.

But yesterday, engineers working to fix the problem damaged a gas pipe causing further problems.

World renowned violinist, Sophie Rosa, will perform at Exeter Cathedral together with The Exeter Symphony Orchestra and Exeter Philharmonic Choir to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Exeter City staff join PCUK charity cycle from London to Amsterdam

A team of cyclists from business across Exeter will be taking part in a charity bike ride from London to Amsterdam, including three members of staff from Exeter City FC.

The team, which includes our hospitality and events manager Jake Wood, finance assistant Lynn Travis and media manager Simon Larkins, are taking on the 145-mile trip to the Dutch capital to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
