Question & answer with Antonia D'Alessio of Gilbert Stephens Solicitors

Gilbert Stephens Solicitors are delighted that fee earner Antonia D'Alessio has recently qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive.

Antonia initially obtained her Exeter University LLB law degree in 2013, she then undertook Bar exams in London in 2015 before recently completing the Graduate Fast Track Diploma with CILEX Law School.

Antonia, who specialises in residential conveyancing, joined the firm in 2015 and has been an important part of the team ever since.  We asked Antonia a few questions about why she is passionate about law and what advice she would offer to those who are soon to face their exams.

Why were you drawn to law?
I would be lying if I didn’t admit my interest came from To Kill a Mockingbird (one of my favourite books to date). I was quite headstrong about wanting to become a lawyer from quite a young age.

What was the hardest part of the training you have completed?
I worked full time whilst studying the Bar Course in London and again whilst studying for my CILEX exams. Gruelling to go straight from a shift into the books, dedicating my lunch breaks to study.

Why have you chosen to work in Residential Conveyancing?
No house is the same. There is always something new to come into at work, its fast paced and there is a lot of client contact which I like. It’s always nice to meet the clients, making the file seem more personal.

What do you love most about working at Gilbert Stephens?
I love the friendly atmosphere of the firm and the hands on attitude to training.

What advice would you offer anyone about to study law?
Take regular breaks from studying (remembering to have fun too), network with other lawyers and be brave.

What advice would you offer to those facing many law exams?!
Keep why you are doing it as a focus and don’t let what anyone says put you down.

And finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work to unwind?
I enjoy ballet and tap dancing (in fact I used to be an assistant teacher). A great way to clear your mind after a busy day in the office!
