Killerton helps Deaf visitors uncover the family story

The National Trust has developed a series of British Sign Language videos (BSL) to give the Deaf community better access to the history of Killerton House and the Acland family that once lived there. The videos take visitors on a journey around the home, explaining key Acland figures and the history behind each room. The BSL videos have been created and presented by a Deaf volunteer from Heritage Ability. Princesshay to host Wimbledon Big Screen

Live outdoor screenings of Wimbledon matches on a giant screen will take place in Princesshay Square for the duration of the legendary two-week tournament (Monday 2nd July – Sunday 15th July).

Princesshay will also provide deckchairs, bean bags and a temporary lawn for visitors to enjoy while watching the matches free of charge.

Summer games, including giant jenga, noughts and crosses and connect 4 will be set up daily for families to enjoy. Visitors can sit and enjoy prime court matches from 1pm, with the finals days starting at 2pm.

MACS receives £1,000 from local Freemasons

Warning to motorists parking near Exeter Canal

People are being warned not to park their cars beside an access road to a popular canal-side pub in Exeter. Signs are due to go up on Tuesday (19 June) along the road between Salmonpool Bridge and the Double Locks pub. The City Council said a number of motorists were regularly parking at the side of the road, causing problems for passing vehicles and damaging the banks of the canal and the footpath. Two Moors Festival honour for Exeter School musician

A 13-year-old pupil from Exeter School is celebrating being named Young Musician of the Year at the prestigious Two Moors Festival.

Double bass player Adam Cole shares the title with three other young musicians.

Year 9 pupil Adam likes playing classical and jazz music on double bass and piano.

Adam competed against over 50 performers across the South West (all Grade 7 or equivalent and aged 18 or under) and will now perform at the featured Festival Autumn Award Winners Concert in October.
