Devon Local Nature Partnership is running a campaign called ‘Naturally Healthy Month’ throughout May to encourage people to get out and enjoy the many benefits of being active outdoors.

East Devon District Council's countryside team is taking part in the campaign and encouraging people to attend one of their events or try out volunteering.

Among the events is a mud walk in Exmouth on Tuesday 30 May and a fun in the stream morning at Honiton Bottom on Wednesday 31 May.

Countryside team leader, Tim Dafforn said: "All of our events are suitable for people who love the outdoors, or are new to exploring the countryside. The sessions give people a taster along with ideas of activities they can enjoy in their own time. East Devon has so much to offer and you are never far from a great walk or a stunning beach. May is one of the most special months to explore this part of Devon."

During the month the countryside team will be working with their volunteers out on site, including helping at events, checking cattle at Seaton Wetlands and taking part in practical work with the Tuesday Task Force at Seaton Wetlands or the East Devon Conservation Volunteers on Thursdays.

David Cooke, who has been volunteering with the East Devon Conservation Volunteers since October 2016, said: ‘’Volunteering is a great way to discover new areas in East Devon, as well as staying active and making new friends. I really look forward to Thursdays and the different tasks we get to try our hand at with the countryside rangers. I’d recommend getting involved with the countryside team’s practical work to people of all interests and abilities as you learn so much and have such a great time doing it!’’
