Georgian Youngster Tchumbadze Becomes a Chief

Exeter Chiefs have completed the signing of young Georgian international prop, Bachuki Tchumbadze, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 23-year-old front rower moves to Devon to play his club rugby outside of his native Georgia for the first time in his career.

“I really enjoy English rugby, and I’m truly honoured to have the opportunity to be a key part of the Exeter Chiefs,” Tchumbadze said.

“I’m well aware of the crucial role that forwards play in the team’s system, and I’m really looking forward to making my debut in the Premiership.”

He follows in the...

The intense football season gradually came to its middle. The European cups took pauses, and the players are focused on the domestic Championships.

Let’s pay attention to the French League 1, where PSG continues to dominate.

Already by the equator of the tournament, the team of Thomas Tuchel is virtually guaranteed themselves a gold medal. This was possible not only due to the impressive start of the Parisians, who had a record winning streak at the start of top leagues, but also due to the problems of the main competitors, in particular, Monaco. The team was considered as...

The world’s first environmental-themed multi-sports event will take place in Exeter next summer, it has been revealed. Formerly the South West Youth Games, The Planet Earth Games is a new concept set to be launched in 2019.

The organisers are promising the event will be bigger than ever – and better for the environment.

In fact, they are aiming to leave Exeter cleaner than they found it, with community litter collections, the use of recycled materials, zero single-use plastic and be at the forefront of the best practice in sustainability in sport.

Organiser, Chris...

City 1 Crewe Alexandra 0

Lee Martin’s stunning effort was enough to help Exeter City to a 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra at St James Park in Sky Bet League Two.

The only goal of the game came when the midfielder cut in from the left before sending an exquisite effort into the top corner from distance.

The Grecians made three changes to the side that started the loss to Bury last time out as Martin, Dean Moxey and Archie Collins came into the side against David Artell’s team.

Following a 13:45 pitch inspection at St James Park due to heavy rain, referee Craig Hicks deemed the pitch playable as...

Fired-up Chiefs secure a vital win

A bit like the Incredible Hulk, you don’t want to make the Exeter Chiefs angry.

Undone on home soil for the first time since February by Gloucester the week previous, Rob Baxter’s side gained sweet revenge by claiming their first Heineken Champions Cup victory of the season.

Tries from Sam Skinner, Don Armand, Jack Yeandle and Harry Williams, plus kicks from Gareth Steenson, ensured the Devonians kept alive any hopes of qualification from Pool Two with just two fixtures remaining next month.

Gloucester, meanwhile, were left to lick their wounds as they countered...

Chiefs side to face Gloucester

Rob Baxter says his Exeter Chiefs side must use the disappointment of their European campaign so far to make them a better side moving forward.

Hopes were high at the start of the season that the Devonians would really attack their rivals in this season’s Heineken Champions Cup. However, that has not proved the case and after three rounds the Chiefs are still without a win and sat bottom of Pool Two.

An opening round draw with Munster at Sandy Park has since been followed with defeats to Castres and Gloucester, the latter coming just last Saturday when the Cherry &...

Strictly speaking, Exeter Chiefs have waltzed their way impressively to the top two of the Gallagher Premiership this season. Europe, on the other hand, remains a ‘work in progress’ as Rob Baxter’s side slipped to a second successive defeat at the hands of rivals Gloucester.

The visiting Cherry & Whites not only bolstered their own Pool 2 aspirations, but at the same time they gained sweet revenge for a 23-6 loss to Devon’s finest at the same venue just a fortnight ago.

Although they fell behind to an early Don Armand try – and again to Nic White’s converted score just...

Grecians fall down the table

Exeter City fell to a 2-0 defeat away from home against Bury in League Two.

Jay O'Shea netted a first half opener for the home side before Jayden Stockley saw his penalty saved in the second period. As the Grecians looked to level, they then found themselves further behind when Byron Moore scored to take the game away from City.

Manager Matt Taylor made three changes to the side that started the last league outing with Macclesfield Town as Craig Woodman, Aaron Martin and Chiedozie Ogbene came into the starting XI at Gigg Lane.

The Grecians almost went ahead inside...
