After their recent win against Oldham, hopes of making the play-offs are at an all-time high. In fact, the club currently sits in the play-off places with a narrow two-point lead over the four teams below them in the table. Tough games against the likes of Cheltenham Town and Stevenage have certainly meant that the end to the season hasn’t been without its drama. So fans breathed a sigh of relief when Ryan Bowman broke the deadlock against Oldham in the 79th minute. Yet, with one more match against Forest Green still remaining, the race for the play-offs is anything but over.

City 1 Oldham Athletic 0

Exeter City picked up a crucial three points as they kept up their hopes of a place in the Sky Bet Leagueb play-offs with a 1-0 win over Oldham Athletic.

Ryan Bowman’s close range header on 79 minutes was the difference between the two sides when he popped up to head home following an initial save from the Oldham keeper.

Manager Matt Taylor named the same side that started the 1-1 draw with Stevenage on Easter Monday as the Grecians looked to hold onto a place in the play-offs. The game started lively with Oldham testing Christy Pym right away with Mohamed Maouche shooting...

City 1 Crawley Town 3

Exeter City fell to a 3-1 defeat to Crawley Town at St James Park in Sky Bet League Two.

Two goals from Reece Grego-Cox and a first half finish from Filipe Morais did the damage for the away side with Ryan Bowman netting City’s only goal as they looked for a way back into the match.

Manager Matt Taylor made an unchanged side to the 11 that started the 2-0 win over Port Vale last time out as the Grecians looked to further consolidate a place in the play-off positions. It was the away side who would see more of the possession in the opening 10 minutes with City forced into a...

Nowacki takes cycle speedway season opener in Exeter

Lukas Nowacki took the honours in the opening round of cycle speedway’s HSBC UK Elite Grand Prix Series at Exeter, but was made to work hard for the win.

The Horspath rider was taken to a run-off by Birmingham’s Chris Timms, after both riders dropped a point each from the 20 available.

Ben Mould completed the podium with 17 points; the Poole rider crashed in his opening race but rallied with wins in his last four heats to snatch third from team-mate Frazer Garnett.

The opening race of the series saw a reduced field take to the Devon track but nonetheless racing...

City 2 Port Vale 0

The Grecians take all three points at St James Park! Nicky Law’s early penalty and Hiram Boateng’s spectacular volley ensured Exeter City returned to winning ways in Sky Bet League Two.

Law converted a second-minute penalty kick before Boateng gave goalkeeper Scott Brown no chance with a jaw-dropping volley as City bounced back from their loss at Macclesfield in fine fashio

Matt Taylor made four changes to his starting line-up as Dara O’Shea, Law, Lee Holmes and Christy Pym, who served his one-match suspension, returned to the side that suffered defeat on the road at...

Winners of the Petplan Equine Medium Under 21, Danielle Balsdon and Lord Lennox from Poltimore in Exeter were delighted with a top place position in a very competitive class at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire on Sunday 7 April 2019.

Danielle was thrilled with Lord Lennox’s performance in an electrifying atmosphere with some exceptional partnerships competing for the Petplan Equine Medium Under 21 title.

“I’m totally overwhelmed and wasn’t expecting this. He did some of his best ever trot work today but as usual made me ride every step of canter. Today’s the first time he...

Cheltenham Town 1 Exeter City 1

Exeter City picked up a hard-earned point in controversial circumstances against Cheltenham Town.

The Grecians had looked in control of the match early in the second half, having been given a lead at the break through Dean Moxey’s pinpoint strike.

However, Cheltenham were then awarded a dubious penalty for a collision between City keeper Christy Pym and striker Luke Varney to level the scores. And then to make matters worse Pym, having been booked for giving away the penalty, was then shown a second yellow card deep into injury time for pushing Billy Waters as he attempted...
