London’s Calling again for Rob Baxter and his Exeter Chiefs side as they powered their way into a fourth successive Gallagher Premiership Rugby Final with victory over Northampton Saints at Sandy Park.

As it was this time last year - and also in 2016 - reigning European champions Saracens will once again provide the sizeable hurdle that the Devonians will have to overcome in the end of season showpiece at Twickenham.

The Chiefs, though, will travel in confident mood, particularly given the way they dispatched the Saints in the second half of this encounter.

Gone are the days when, if you weren’t lucky enough to get your hands on a ticket to the Royal Ascot, or any other similarly regal live horse racing event, your only option was to trudge down to the local bookmaker in the hopes of catching a race and maybe — if you were lucky — placing a bet. Exeter Chiefs 40 Northampton Saints 21 match report

If this was the appetizer, then next week’s main course should serve up another treat as Exeter Chiefs and Northampton Saints will battle it out for a place in this season’s Gallagher Premiership Final at Twickenham.

Rob Baxter’s side bagged top spot – for a second successive season – producing a ruthless second half showing to eventually stymie the threat of the visiting Saints, who had twice taken the lead through converted tries from Piers Francis and Rory Hutchinson.

On both occasions, the Devonians responded in kind. First, Henry Slade glided over for their opener,...

Exeter’s contribution to English rugby

Recently rugby selectors named three Exeter Chiefs players for inclusion into Eddies Jones’ English National rugby squad against Italy, just a month later the same club saw another five Chiefs boys included in the English national squad about to represent the country in the U20s Rugby World Cup in Argentina. No mean feat indeed for one club to achieve, this however, over the course of the Exeter Rugby Club’s history, added just another drop to a bucket filled with exceptional talent, considering the significant contribution Exeter players made to the strengths of the national teams over...

When completed the GESP document will represent the combined strategic future visions of city councillors from East Devon, Mid Devon, Teignbridge, and Exeter for the Greater Exeter region. The proviso for the GESP document is to create a modern city that still retains all the warmth, peace, and charm...
