The current lockdown may have come as a positive in terms of Tomas Francis’ return from injury, but the Exeter Chiefs prop insists he can’t wait to get playing for both club and country.

The 28-year-old has not played a game of rugby since he severely damaged his shoulder during Wales’ Rugby World Cup semi-final loss to South Africa back in October.

Following surgery on the injury, Francis has been working tirelessly behind the scenes in rehab to get himself back in the selection mix.

Months on, though, Francis finds his return to competitive action halted...

Whether you like it or you don't, sponsorship money is vital to the survival of professional football teams both large and small. The money generated by fans going through turnstiles and buying official shirts is now a mostly-insignificant aspect of a club's annual income. Television money, commercial partnerships, and sponsorships have a far bigger role to play - and down in League Two, where Exeter City are, having a sponsor can be the difference between making ends meet and failing to do so.

Exeter hasn't gone as far with sponsorship as other clubs have in the past. So far, we...

One interesting result of horse racing’s jumps season being cut short because of the coronavirus pandemic is that Brian Hughes was awarded the Champion Jockey title for the first time in his career. The accolade, which had been held by Richard Johnson for the last four years, and Tony McCoy for 20 successive years before that, now has a new champion, with Hughes’ 141 wins over the course of the 2019-20 season enough to land the prize.

While Hughes would no doubt have preferred to finish the season and claim the prize in the truest manner, his performances over the past year or so...

Chiefs and Sandy Park donate unused stock to NHS

Even in these tough times, Sandy Park and Exeter Chiefs are looking to play their part in helping the local community - particularly those working on the frontline - whose efforts are going above and beyond.

With planned fixtures and events postponed for the foreseeable future, it’s meant that Sandy Park has been left with stock items that would normally have been consumed by our many visitors.

Rather than let them go to waste and go past their expiry dates, the Sandy Park team collated the stock and have been out and about helping to distribute it across three...

Taione commits to the Chiefs

Elvis Taione has spoken of his delight after it was today confirmed he has put pen to paper on a new contract extension with the Exeter Chiefs.

The Tongan international is the latest member of Rob Baxter’s squad to commit their future to the current leaders of the Gallagher Premiership.

Brought to Sandy Park in the summer of 2014 from Championship outfit, Jersey Reds, the hard-hitting hooker has certainly proved his worth during his six-year stay in Devon, amassing to date 76 first-team appearances and seven tries.

Now, the 36-year-old forward is looking forward...

Exeter Chiefs and Exeter Chiefs Foundation set-up online auction to help raise funds for NHS staff

Exeter Chiefs have today thrown their full support behind the #HelpUsHelpYou appeal, which is aimed at helping the fantastic staff at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust.

In these unprecedented times, brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, we are seeing first-hand the amazing work, commitment and dedication that is carried out by the NHS trust every day.

Here at the Chiefs, we wanted to help offer our backing to the NHS, particularly those working within the city itself, so to that end we have today launched a special online auction on eBay, where...

Tom O’Flaherty insists he and his Exeter Chiefs team-mates will be ‘raring to go’ as and when the season resumes for the Devon club.

Like all of us, the 25-year-old winger is having to abide the rules of the Government’s lockdown during the current COVID-19 outbreak.

However, when rugby does finally resume, the London-born speedster will be looking to drive the Chiefs onwards and upwards, especially after it was confirmed today that he has signed a new long-term deal with Rob Baxter’s side.

Brought to Sandy Park in the summer of 2017 from the Ospreys, Baxter has...

Kirsten happy to remain a Chief

Jannes Kirsten knew he was joining a quality team when he swapped life at the Bulls for a new start at the Exeter Chiefs last summer.

However, the imposing South African admits his new start in England has surpassed even his own expectations and that life with the Chiefs has proved a smash hit for him, on and off he field.

Just days after agreeing to extend his stay at Sandy Park for the foreseeable future, the 26-year-old forward is already looking to the future and the part he hopes to play in helping Rob Baxter’s side when they return to competitive action.

You are probably well versed with placing sports related bets and wagers, if you have been doing so for any length of time, but if you are part of the Gamstop scheme then you will no longer be able to place any type of bet at UK based and licensed bookies sites, for that scheme is a UK betting industry wide self-exclusion scheme that has helped many punters kick their gambling habit.

However, for the many people that have signed up to Gamstop but have always regretted doing so, never forget that being only a UK wide scheme, if you do want to bet again online all you will be...
