From St James Park to the Euros: Tracking Exeter City Academy Players on the International Stage

As Europe’s biggest stars regroup for international duty, national team rosters for Euro 2024 are filled with familiar names - few of which trace their beginnings to the lower tiers of English football.

Exeter City’s academy may not make headlines, but its graduates are making tournament squads. And while attention builds toward summer fixtures and early Champions League predictions on many of the most popular and secure betting platforms, another narrative deserves recognition: players who started at St James Park and are now representing their countries on the international...

Exeter Chiefs win the LV=Cup Final

Exeter Chiefs 15 Northampton Saints 8

It’s a day that will forever live long in the history of Exeter Rugby Club as the Chiefs claimed their first major silverware within the game with a 15-8 victory over Northampton Saints in the final of the LV= Cup.

Rob Baxter’s side toasted Anglo-Welsh glory on home soil as tries from Chris Whitehead and Dean Mumm, coupled with five points from the boot of young fly-half Henry Slade, sealed a memorable win for Devon’s finest.

Having suffered Cup Final heartache on numerous occasions in the past, there was no denying the Chiefs...

Exeter City earn a creditable draw

Report: Newport 1 Exeter City 1

Exeter City earned a creditable draw from their trip to South Wales as their trip to Newport County AFC ended 1-1.

City had gone ahead shortly after the interval when Exiles defender Harry Worley turned Tom Nichols’ cross into his own net, but Lee Minshull forced the ball over the line from a corner just a minute later.

And ultimately a toughly-contested battle ended honours-even as all other chances went begging before the referee sounded the final whistle.

Manager Paul Tisdale made three City changes for the visit to Rodney...

Chiefs name side to face Saints in LV= Cup Final

Home turf, capacity crowd and the hopes of a rugby-mad region right behind them - it seems Exeter Chiefs have all the ingredients to serve up a real treat in Sunday's LV= Cup final at Sandy Park (1pm).

Standing in the way of silverware for Rob Baxter and his team, however, are Premiership rivals Northampton Saints, themselves no strangers to the big occasion and indeed former winners of the competition in 2010.

Sat at the summit of English rugby's top division, the Saints have certainly been the team that have set the benchmark this season. Jim Mallinder's men - even...

Mumm sets sights on LV= final

It may not have been pretty - at times it was downright ugly - but last Sunday's LV= Cup victory over Bath Rugby was all that mattered to Exeter Chiefs skipper Dean Mumm come the final whistle.

At the 12th attempt since their promotion into the top flight in 2010, Rob Baxter's side were finally able to overcome their Westcountry rivals in a competitive first-team fixture.

For Aussie international Mumm, the 22-19 win at The Recreation Ground not only ended the so-called 'Bath hoodoo' - but at the same time ensured the Chiefs advanced to this weekend's LV= Cup Final for the...

Another home disappointment for Exeter City

It was another home disappointment for Exeter City as they went down 1-0 at St James Park to fellow strugglers Northampton Town.

Chris Wilder’s side scored the game’s only goal in the second half through a well-taken finish by substitute Ian Morris, the Irishman’s first touch since coming on.

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale named a completely unchanged starting line-up to face Chris Wilder’s Northampton Town tonight at St James Park.

Both the Grecians’ starting XI and the bench looked the same as they were for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Dagenham & Redbridge, and...
