Chiefs Women bid farewell to outgoing players

Exeter Chiefs Women will bid farewell to seven players at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Among those confirmed so far will be Canadian hooker and crowd favourite Emily Tuttosi who is heading back to Canada to take on a coaching role. The 30-year-old joined Chiefs in their inaugural season. She has played 88 games for the club and scored 31 tries.

Tuttosi will be joined on the leavers’ list by former Ireland captain Edel ‘Tricky’ McMahon, who has been with the club since 2022. Operations to both knees have meant the flanker has not been able take part in the 2025/26...

City v Sheffield Utd report

A BRAVE Exeter City just missed out on a draw with League 1 Sheffield United in their final pre-season friendly at St James Park before the big kick-off in two week’s time.

The Grecians named a strong-looking line-up for this one, one which looks very like that which may take to the field to begin the 2015/16 League 2 campaign against Yeovil Town.

Blades boss Nigel Adkins, who brought Reading to St James Park for a pre-season fixture one year ago, switched goalkeepers after handing in the teamsheets, with George Long, the former Motherwell loanee, replacing Mark Howard in...

Patience pays off for Baxter

Rob Baxter insists a patient approach on the recruitment front has worked in his favour after he today welcomed talented winger James Short to the Exeter Chiefs.

The 25-year-old back is Baxter’s ninth new addition to the playing ranks at Sandy Park, joining the Devon club from Aviva Premiership rivals London Irish on a one-year deal. Never one to rush into the market just for the sake of bolstering his numbers, Baxter has diligently gone about capturing the Redhill-born player in a short space of time.

Having lost speedsters Tom James and Fetu’u Vainikolo at the end of last...

ECFC celebrate community diversity

Exeter City Football Club will once again celebrate diversity in the local community by holding an international football tournament this Sunday (26 July).

The 6 a side competition has been organised by Exeter City Supporters Trust’s One Game One Community Group and Exeter City’s Football in the Community team. It will take place at the University of Exeter’s Streatham Sports Complex.

The tournament, now in its 11th year, encourages participation from local community teams and especially black and minority ethnic players. The event attracts players from many different parts...

New Chief Ollie is feeling jolly

He may well be one of the new kids on the block at Sandy Park, but summer signing Ollie Atkins admits he already feels at home with the Exeter Chiefs.

A team bonding trip to Spain on his first official day with the Devon club allowed the 26-year-old Aussie to quickly get up to speed with his new team-mates following his switch from Scottish Pro12 outfit Edinburgh.

And now a couple of weeks into pre-season, the towering forward is continuing his settling in process by playing an active part during the club’s gruelling pre-season programme under the watchful eye of head coach...

City v Fluminense match report

Two moments of brilliance saw a young Exeter City side go down to Fluminense’s Under-19s at St James Park.

The Grecians went with a youthful eleven to take on Fluminense’s Under-19 side in an historic match to celebrate 101 years since the Grecians travelled to Brazil for the Selecão national side’s first match.

Alex Byrne and Jason Pope were both selected for City ahead of their impending loan moves to Weston-super-Mare, and Pope would almost hand the Grecians an early lead. He won possession just outside of the Fluminense penalty area before stinging the fingers of...

Julian Salvi is bracing himself for a “non-stop season” after settling in well to life with new club Exeter Chiefs.

Having spent the past four campaigns with Aviva Premiership rivals Leicester Tigers, the 29-year-old forward has opted for a fresh start down in the Westcountry, working under the guidance of Exeter head coach Rob Baxter.

As one of a number of new faces brought to Sandy Park by Baxter during the close season, Salvi has wasted little time in getting stuck into working life in Devon, pushing himself hard during the opening weeks of the club’s pre-season...

Match report - Grecians v Cherries

Exeter City were defeated 2-1 at the hands of Barclays Premier League opponents AFC Bournemouth in a pre-season friendly at St James Park.

The Grecians led at the interval through David Wheeler, who netted just after the half-hour mark, but second-half strikes from Dan Gosling and Junior Stanislas gave the Cherries the win.

Summer arrivals Bobby Olejnik and Troy Brown were in the starting XI for the Grecians’ home game against AFC Bournemouth. Manny Oyeleke began on the bench, while trialist Will Hoskins was also in the matchday squad.

The first chance of the...

Exeter City welcome Bournemouth

Once again we will welcome Premier League opposition to St James Park as part of our pre-season fixture programme – this time it is the top-tier’s newest members, AFC Bournemouth, who will provide the opposition.

The Cherries were visibly flourishing when they visited the Park in the Capital One Cup in the early stages of last season – that was just the beginning of a terrific campaign for the Dorset club, who eventually lifted the Sky Bet Championship title.

Their pre-season schedule is still in its earlier stages, with just a single fixture played so far compared to...

Rugby World Cup winner Jason Leonard OBE believes Sandy Park will deliver an “electric atmosphere” when it welcomes the global tournament to Devon later this year.

Having played host to the European Grand Prix Sevens Series for the first time last weekend, the home of the Exeter Chiefs is now busy gearing itself up to welcome Tonga, Namibia, Italy, Georgia and Romania as part of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Leonard, who has recently taken up the post of President of the Rugby Football Union, helped to open Sandy Park back in 2006 and has been suitably impressed by the way the...
