Chiefs Women bid farewell to outgoing players

Exeter Chiefs Women will bid farewell to seven players at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Among those confirmed so far will be Canadian hooker and crowd favourite Emily Tuttosi who is heading back to Canada to take on a coaching role. The 30-year-old joined Chiefs in their inaugural season. She has played 88 games for the club and scored 31 tries.

Tuttosi will be joined on the leavers’ list by former Ireland captain Edel ‘Tricky’ McMahon, who has been with the club since 2022. Operations to both knees have meant the flanker has not been able take part in the 2025/26...

Exeter Wheelers feature in road safety video

The Exeter based cycling club Exeter Wheelers played an integral part in the filming of the SPACE; a road safety video created by Chris Boardman and BikeBiz editor Carlton Reid.

The video titled SPACE has now gone viral online with over 45,000 views in less than 24 hours aims to educate drivers on how much room a cyclist or group of riders need when overtaking them.

As Boardman points out, riders aren't just an obstacle to be avoided, they are people's loved ones.

Hepher backs Slade to shine

Exeter Chiefs assistant coach Ali Hepher believes it would tough for England to ignore the claims of Henry Slade if the young playmaker puts in a performance against France this Saturday at Twickenham.

The 22-year-old back is poised to win his maiden international cap when Stuart Lancaster’s side take on Les Bleus in the first of three warm-up games ahead of this autumn’s Rugby World Cup.

A world-class field will be contesting Empire Coachbuilders Bicton Arena International Horse Trials, which run on August 22, and 23.

They include four riders in the FEI top 20 rider rankings – William Fox-Pitt, Sam Griffiths, Jonathan Paget and Paul Tapner - as well as a number of other well-known eventing stars.

World number two William Fox-Pitt will ride nine horses including his international four-star horse Cool Mountain in the open intermediate.

Australian Sam Griffiths rides include the hugely popular Happy Times who finished third at last year’s Land Rover...

Exeter City through to second round

EXETER CITY survived an onslaught of second-half corners to book their place in the Capital One Cup Second Round with a 2-1 win at the County Ground over Swindon Town.

Goals from Alex Nicholls and David Wheeler handed the Grecians a 2-0 lead at the break, while Jonathan Obika pulled one back for the hosts in the second half.

Haldon ladies Tug of War team are celebrating after coming third at the National Federation of Young Farmers Club finals, when they represented Devon at Tenbury Show in Worcestershire.

The team is made up of members from Bow, Newton St Cyres and Chagford including Emma Davie, Georgia Woodman, Alice Palfrey, Georgina Davie, Sophie Down, Lucy Thomas, Jess Palfrey and Alice Giles pulled against 8 other teams in the first heat, winning 4 outright, three draws and losing just one. The team met Worcestershire YFC in the semi-finals, where they lost 2-0, but went onto win both ends...

A Tom Nichols penalty and a David Wheeler goal had given Exeter a commanding lead at the break, but that was cancelled out quickly in the second half, sub Harry Cornick scoring within a minute of coming on before Matt Dolan converted a penalty of his own.

82-year-old golfer plays 300th course

Jim Dowie, an 82 year old golfer from Exmouth has just reached a remarkable golfing milestone by playing on over 300 golf courses worldwide.

Jim, who is a member of Exeter Golf and Country Club set himself the 300 target back in 1997 when he was a mere lad aged just 64 when he started playing the game. Prior to taking-up golf, Jim played badminton at county level for many years.

Since then, Jim has played golf in 26 countries worldwide and whilst most of his golf has been played in the United Kingdom, the list of countries he has played in reads like an international travel...
