Teignbridge District Council is on the hunt for the best of the best as it opens nominations for its Teignbridge Sports Personality Awards 2015.

Nominations are being sought for this year’s awards gala on Friday 4 December 2015 at the Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish Warren.

The yearly event recognises and rewards athletes, teams, volunteers, coaches, and unsung heroes across Teignbridge for their hard work and dedication to sport, health and physical activity across the district and many local communities.

Anyone can submit nominations for the sportspeople, volunteers and coaches they think deserve special recognition.

Quick and convenient online nominations are welcomed at www.teignbridge.gov.uk/sportspersonalityawards

Nominations must be in by noon Friday 25 September.

There are 15 different categories with each one aiming to showcase the individuals and teams who have made a huge difference in sport, physical activity or health within Teignbridge over the last 12 months.

Teignbridge is also pleased to announce Devon law firm Kitsons Solicitors as its headline sponsor for the second year running and is on the search for category sponsors.

James Cross, Managing Partner at Kitsons, said: “We’re delighted to continue our association with the Teignbridge Sports Personality of the Year awards which celebrates local sporting success, volunteers and participants.

"Community is so important and this is a fantastic local event to be part of – bringing Teignbridge and the wider community together with all the benefits that sport can bring to us all.”

Cllr George Gribble, Teignbridge Executive Spokesperson for Communities, Recreation and Leisure said: “We are delighted Kitsons have reaffirmed their commitment to being our headline sponsor for the second year.

"Our Sports Personality Awards are a great celebration of the people involved in sport across our district and are committed to helping others reach their full potential and lead active lifestyles.

“We are now appealing for sponsors to become part of this prestigious event by putting their name to a category. We would welcome hearing from businesses big or small who would like to support sport, celebrate local sportspeople and associate their brand with a really positive, celebratory event.

“The awards come after a great year of sport in Teignbridge. The authority worked with Torbay and the Rotary Clubs of the South West Peninsular to successfully rejuvenate the Devon Youth Games with Teignbridge winning the overall authority trophy for the third year in a row.”

Teignbridge is seeking sponsorship for each of the categories so if you are a local business looking to support the work of all our local volunteers, clubs, coaches, athletes and teams while getting your business seen and heard please contact Teignbridge’s Active Leisure Development Officer Nikki Taylor 01626 215611 or activeleisure@teignbridge.gov.uk
