Just before the under 9 and the under 14 squads went out to play rugby on Sunday they were met by Ian Kingsbury JP, the Provincial Grand Master of the Devonshire Freemasons. He was accompanied by Colin Mackenzie, Alan Tonkin, Ian Penny who are all members of the Unity Masonic Lodge in Crediton and have just sponsored the new playing kit for both teams.

Both organisations have a long history in Crediton, the Freemasons lodge having been there since 1870 and the Crediton Rugby Football Club since 1878. These teams must have met during that 150 years, not in competition but in unity...

Exeter Chiefs 24 Harlequins 7

London’s Calling for Exeter Chiefs as they booked a third successive final appearance in the Anglo-Welsh Cup with victory over Harlequins at Sandy Park.

In a dominant display from start to finish, Devon’s finest advanced to the capital in style, setting up a final showdown against Leicester Tigers courtesy of tries through Lachie Turner, Max Bodilly Julian Salvi and Sam Simmonds, whose younger brother Joe completed the scoring with two conversions.

Harlequins mustered a late consolation score through Calum Waters late on, but that was a rare bright spot on a day when the...

Chiefs side to face Harlequins

Ricky Pellow insists he and his Exeter Chiefs side are ‘ready for battle’ ahead of Sunday’s Anglo-Welsh Cup semi-final against Harlequins at Sandy Park (3pm).

Looking to reach a third successive final, Devon’s finest must first overcome their capital-based rivals, who themselves have the added incentive of knowing a victory this weekend would ensure they run out in the first showpiece final of the season on home soil a week later.

The Chiefs know from past experience how much of a carrot playing a final at your own home stadium can be - they won this very competition at...

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter hopes Don Armand (pictured) will see out the rest of his career at Sandy Park.

The influential back-row forward, together with lock Jonny Hill, have both been handed new two-year contracts by the Premiership club that will extend their stay in Devon until at least the summer of 2019.

Baxter has spoken in recent weeks about his desire to tie down the long-term futures of a number of players within his first-team squad - and this latest news will be warmly welcomed not only by those in power at Sandy Park, but also by the wider Chiefs...

Exeter City fell to their first home defeat since November 2016 as goals from Seamus McCartan and Matty Pearson gave Accrington Stanley a 2-0 win at St James Park.

The visitors had the better of the opening half-hour of the match and played well on the counter-attack in the second half. However, the Grecians could take heart from a battling performance that saw them create numerous chances to get back into the match in the final half hour.

City made three changes to the starting line-up from last Saturday’s match at Hartlepool United. In came Luke Croll, Pierce Sweeney and...

Could Leicester City win the Champions League?

Maybe the title is comical to you, the question ridiculous. How can Leicester City win the Champions League when you still have the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City still in the competition? They stunned everybody last season by winning the Premier League title, despite being as far out as 5000-1 by the bookies at the start of the season.

This season they have struggled, leading to the recent sacking of manager Claudio Ranieri. A lot has been said about...
