Thousands of Exeter Chiefs fans lined the streets of the City Centre today to welcome home their heroes after they claimed the Aviva Premiership title for the first time in the club’s history.

Gareth Steenson’s extra time penalty proved the difference as Devon’s finest edged out rivals Wasps 23-20 at Twickenham.

Club chairman and chief executive Tony Rowe OBE, along with head coach Rob Baxter, led the celebrations, which included two open-top buses making their way down the High Street before they were met by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Lesley Robson for a civic reception in the Guildhall.

The Chiefs were afforded a thunderous reception from their legion of supporters, who lined every part of the route from St James’ Park.
