Pellow to leave Chiefs after 16 seasons

Ricky Pellow has made the decision to leave the Exeter Chiefs coaching team after 16 seasons to spend more time with his family and explore other career opportunities.

The proud Cornishman joined Chiefs in 2009 as skills coach after retiring from his playing career during which he played scrum-half for Cornish Pirates and Worcester Warriors.

Pellow said: “I’ve had 16 amazing years here at the club, so it’s an emotional decision to leave but it is one that enables me and my family to experience a new adventure.

Flybe extends shirt sponsorship with Exeter Chiefs

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has extended its long-standing sponsorship of Exeter Chiefs rugby club through the 2018/19 season.

For the ninth consecutive year, the distinctive Flybe logo again features on the back of the players’ shirts, the Exeter-based airline having been a Chiefs shirt sponsor since their first year in the top division in 2010. As a result, the logo has been prominent on the team’s shirts during all three Premiership finals, including their Championship winning season in 2017.

Play tennis for free on newly refurbished courts in Exeter

Special ‘turn up and play’ sessions have been organised on courts at Cowick Barton Playing Fields, with free tuition from a qualified coach thrown in for good measure. The City Council is working in partnership with Tennis for Free and local community programme Exwick Tennis Hub to offer the informal sessions on a weekly basis. Jump racing is back at Exeter Racecourse on Thursday, 11th October and early birds can pre-book Grandstand and Paddock tickets for just £10 each until noon on the 11th September.

Grecians take bonus point after draw at Huish Park

Exeter City and Yeovil Town played out a goalless draw at Huish Park, but the Grecians claimed a bonus point following a 4-3 win penalty shoot out win as the sides played out their first match of this season's Checkatrade Trophy campaign.

This year’s ‘thrilling’ Devon Stage of the Tour of Britain was one by Commonwealth Games time trial champion Cameron Meyer.

Meyer took victory in Stage Two of the 2018 OVO Energy Tour of Britain after sprinting to win in Barnstaple.

The 174.9 km stage started in Cranbrook and was the tenth time in 12 years The Tour of Britain visited Devon with the county hosting starts and finishes annually between 2009 and 2014 with the last Devon Stage held in 2016.

Exeter City lost their first game home since February 17 as Lincoln City recorded a 3-0 win at St James Park.

The Grecians fell behind in the 42nd-minute when John Akinde’s low cross found Lee Frecklington and then Lincoln’s striker added a second in first-half stoppage time by firing past Christy Pym from 12 yards.

Brentford's Chiedozie Obgene signs for City

Exeter City have signed Chiedozie Ogbene on loan from Brentford until January.

Chiedozie, 21, has made two Championship and one EFL Cup appearance for the Bees after joining the West London club following a successful spell at League of Ireland Premier Division side Limerick. The winger, who scored eight goals in 34 games at Markets Field, is known to City through assistant manager Eric Kinder who worked with the player at Limerick. Exeter’s rising cycling star George Pym says that racing in the Tour of Britain through his home county next week will be one of the highlights of his professional career so far.

George Pym, 24, will be riding in the Tour of Britain from Sunday 2 September – Devon Stage 2, takes place on the following day on Monday 3 September.
