Nationwide and Dementia UK’s free face-to-face clinics are returning to Nationwide’s Torquay, Plymouth and Exmouth branches this February, offering specialist support in a safe, comfortable and private space for people to discuss any aspect of dementia.

Hosted by Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses, the clinics are open to anyone impacted by dementia, offering life-changing support to families and individuals in the area. Appointments can be booked via Dementia UK’s website here .

Exeter based ethical retailer, Sancho’s, have launched their Fashion Revolution Week in 2019 Programme in an effort to raise awareness about the cost of fast fashion. Consisting of a series of events, it will inform and educate people on the harmful environmental effects of fast fashion, which has become one of the world’s largest polluters. HELP Appeal donate £1 million to the upgrade of Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital's helipad

RD&E hospital helipad will be upgraded thanks to the HELP Appeal

RD&E helipad will be upgraded to enable more patient landings

Work to upgrade the current helipad at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust will begin this month, thanks to a £1 million donation from the County Air Ambulance HELP Appeal.

The donation has covered the cost of the redevelopment and will allow the introduction of night landings at the hospital. At the moment, the helipad does not have the capacity to support night landings, meaning that its day light operation is limited, especially throughout the winter months. Funding secured for next winter's night shelter

Exeter’s night shelter supported 194 rough sleepers over the winter and will open up again in November thanks to the City Council securing extra funding.

The shelter – dubbed The Junction – is set to wind down at the end of the month as the weather improves and temperatures go up.

Since opening up its doors in November, the facility has provided a total of 3,239 bed nights and given shelter, allowing those sleeping rough to come inside on some of the coldest nights over the winter, when the City Council has enacted its Severe Weather Protocol (SWEP).

Experimental Traffic Regulation Order in Powderham

New road restrictions are to be introduced in Powderham.

Devon County Council is introducing the changes in a bid to reduce the volume and speed of traffic on Estuary and Church Roads, through Powderham village.

The Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) will prohibit all motor vehicles, except for access, and will apply for the full length of the route between A379 junctions at Red Lodge in the north and Starcross in the south.

Exeter Arena Skatepark Opening Jam event

Skatepark users will be out in force on Saturday as Exeter’s newest facility – Exeter Arena Skatepark – holds an Opening Jam event.

The event will feature music, pro-rider demonstrations and competitions for all ages and abilities - scoot, skate and BMX – with lots of great prizes and giveaways.

There’s no need register beforehand, just turn up on the day. Everyone is welcome to attend and it’s all free of charge.

Exeter community driving movement to be launched by May

A new movement to slash vehicle emissions through the actions of drivers, rather than government policy, is being pioneered in Exeter by connected car technology developer Lightfoot – makers of the world’s first technology to reward better drivers. Exeter Beats announces a star DJ line-up of Nick Grimshaw, Scott Mills and DJ Kristian Nairn to take over Exeter Castle’s courtyard during the three-night festival. Exeter Beats is part of the award-winning Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink which is back for its 16th consecutive year on the May Day Bank Holiday.
