Conflict and civil wars have been driven over the past century by levels of poverty, inequality among groups in countries, and illegitimate governments.

But environmental impacts and climate shocks have played a role in some historical conflicts, according to the new study. Crucially, the study suggests that climate change may heighten the risk of future outbreaks.

Health and Care leaders mark 1,000th nursing associate milestone

A nursing associate from Exeter says being one of the first people on the register has given her “freedom.”

Nicola Leach has been in the role at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital since February this year.

There are now 1,000 nursing associates on the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s register – six months on from the role’s creation.

The England-only position bridges the gap between healthcare assistants and registered nurses, contributing to the delivery of better, safer care for people across the country in a variety of health and social care settings.

Rare map found in an attic gives glimpse into life in the 18th century

A rare map found in an attic gives an extraordinary glimpse into 18th century life in Exeter before radical changes to the landscape and industry transformed the city.

The mysterious engraving was not known about by experts or archivists until now. It is now incredibly unusual for new maps of English towns and cities produced hundreds of years ago to be discovered.

Historians think the map is a one-off, and never used, as another, produced in a more modern, fashionable style, was produced by someone else soon after. The map was found in the attic of an elderly lady after...

We enjoy organising fun, local events in the town and are proud to say we raise thousands of pounds each year to help support the local nurses who care for people in our community in their homes when they have been given a terminal diagnosis and need expert end of life care.

We hold regular coffee mornings, a Ladies Pamper Evening and support those who open their gardens for us in the summer. Our next big event is on Friday 28th June...
