Digital Devon event will offer AI insights

Businesses across the county are being invited to attend a new full-day event in Torquay aimed at helping them better understand digital technology and artificial intelligence.

Organised by Devon Chamber of Commerce, Digital Devon will take place on 9 June at the Riviera Centre, running from 10am to 4pm.

Refuse workers honoured for rescuing deer

Two refuse and recycling workers who went to the aid of a deer that had become trapped behind a bottle bank have been recognised by a leading animal rights charity.

Jason Blackmore and Neil Baker, who work for Exeter City Council, have been awarded PETA’s prestigious Hero to Animal Award in honour.

Vehicle restrictions eased at recycling centres - but vans remain excluded for time being

Vehicle restrictions to Devon’s recycling centres, including bicycles and some vehicles with trailers, are being eased this week.

It’s all part of the phased reopening of Devon’s 19 Household Waste Recycling Centres.

From today (Tuesday June 2) visitors driving van-based people carriers with seats in the back, and cyclists - including those with cycle-towed trailers - will be able to use all of Devon’s recycling centres.

And from Wednesday (June 3) cars with trailers will also be permitted - except for at the Sidmouth, Totnes and South Molton sites.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced today the 53 individual finalists, from across the UK, for the tenth anniversary of the nationwide BAFTA Young Game Designers (YGD) competition.

Iggy Gill-Ces (13), Caden Cheong (13) and Gustav Hills (13) have been selected as BAFTA YGD finalists for their games entitled ‘Evolution’ and ‘Hero,’

Exeter’s Real Food Store is re-opening its doors next week after over two months of closure during the Covid-19 crisis.

Grant to help hospice hygiene standards

A regional housebuilder has helped a local hospice meet the cost of maintaining its highest hygiene standards and protecting patients by naming it a Community Champion and awarding £1,000.
