Devon County Show Confirms 106,000 Visitors in Another Record-Breaking Year

The tickets have now been counted, and Devon County Show has officially confirmed an audited attendance of 106,000 visitors for 2026 — an uplift of 5,000 on last year’s record-breaking figure.

This year’s Show coincided with the late May half‑term break, a rare calendar alignment that contributed to an especially strong family turnout. While children go free on Saturday and therefore cannot be fully audited, the organisers witnessed a noticeably higher number of young visitors enjoying the attractions, activities and livestock displays.

Police appeal for missing man

Police are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of Marc JONES who has been reported missing from his home address in the Teignmouth area. Marc is a 30 year old white male around 5’7” tall of broad build with short unkempt dark hair and a Scottish accent. Marc was last seen between 1900 -1930 hours on Thursday 21st November 2013 when he left the home address wearing a dark Superdry jacket with blue writing on it, blue jeans and white trainers. Mock The Week star is coming to Exeter

She has starred in Mock the Week and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and now comedy star Ava Vidal is heading to The Exeter Phoenix as part of her He’s Not a Keeper show.

The show, taking place on 15th December, aims to expose all those tell tell signs that mean He’s Not a Keeper.

He’s Not a Keeper is based on Ava’s own experiences and those shared with her by women and men across The UK.

Update: Police have arrested a 25 year old man on suspicion of murder.

The man is being held in Police custody and will be interviewed shortly

Police in Exeter have launched a murder investigation after a man died from severe injuries last night.

Police were called to a home on Alphington road after neighbours raised concerns for a man’s safety.

At the scene Police found a badly injured 43 year-old man who was rushed to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The man later died of his injuries in the hospital.

The BIG Cake Show, joined by charity partner Sparks, Glenn Cosby, Peter Gorton and over 450 cream tea lovers from across the South West, smashed the current cream tea party record.

Princesshay was packed with people on Thursday night for the big Christmas lights switch on.

Musical Performances by the University of Exeter’s Jazz Orchestra, the South West Music Academy and the Lympstone Military Wives choir counted down to the main event.

Rob Baxter head coach of the Exeter Chiefs and Paul Tisdale, manager of Exeter City Football Club were joined on stage by Exeter City players John O’Flynn and Sam Parkin and the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Rachel Lyons, to officially turn on the lights.

Police call for vigilance after attempted child abduction

Police are warning members of the public to be on the lookout for a man in a grey or white van who allegedly tried to pull a primary school girl into his van.

The young girl was able to break free and run for safety without being physically harmed.

A police spokesman said: “We’re treating this incident seriously and are actively searching for this man. This type of incident is rare but obviously it’s of concern.

Crown Prosecution Service considers charges on Thomas Orchard case

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is considering a charges including corporate manslaughter against Devon and Cornwall Police over the death of Thomas Orchard.

Mr Orchard died after being held in police custody on 3 October 2012 where an emergency restraint belt was stapped across his mouth as a ‘spit hood’.

He was found slumped in a cell in Heavitree Road Police station and died in hospital seven days later.
