30-year-old character comes to life

A children’s cartoon character, created 30 years ago in sketch form as part of a college thesis, has finally been brought to stunning interactive life thanks to modern technology.

Boris the Blob was the brainchild of Plymouth graphic designer Mark Hannon while he was studying for an honours degree in scientific and technical graphics.

He created Boris as part of his studies into the use of cartoons in education and for the past three decades the Boris sketches have been tucked away in a drawer.

But the character is now set to become a firm favourite with young...

Polish war heroes remembered

More than 70 years after Exeter was protected by the Polish night fighters of 307 Squadron, two residents, Michael Parrott and Marcin Piórkowski laid a wreath on behalf of 307 Squadron at the Polish Memorial national ceremony at RAF Northolt.

In the last 12 months the two men have established a non-profit British-Polish organisation, ‘307 Squadron Project’ to both further research and promote the role of the squadron, as well as showing an example of British-Polish co-operation both in the war and today.

The ceremony, which took place on Saturday (13th September), is...

Everyone else can help clean the beach, find coastal species and have fun. We’ll be doing rock pool rambles, seaweed pressing, shell...

Exeter Chiefs may have started the new Aviva Premiership season with a bang at London Welsh last weekend, but head coach Rob Baxter knows a much tougher challenge awaits his side when Leicester Tigers arrive in town tomorrow (3.15pm). A 52-0 drubbing of the league's newcomers is always nice to crow about after week one, but Baxter insists the Tigers are a totally different kettle of fish and a quick glance at the league history is testament to that very fact. The Midlanders have been crowned Premiership Kings on ten different occasions and having missed out on their annual pilgrimage to...
