Stagecoach South West has this year, strengthened its partnerships with Devon County Council and Exeter City Council in relation to the joint efforts to prevent and tackle antisocial behaviour in and around Exeter’s bus station, improving safety and the overall customer experience by providing greater visibility and linking its CCTV system to the city-wide network.

Police name two found dead in East Devon

Two people have been named following the discovery of two bodies at a home in Axminster on Sunday (10 May).

They have been named as Jane McCartney aged 59 from the Dalwood area of East Devon, and Graham McCartney aged 63 from Honiton.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the tragic deaths of this couple, but are not looking for any other persons in relation to the incident.

Family members have been made aware of their deaths and are being supported by specially trained police family liaison officers.

Shared chief executive deal set to end

An arrangement that has seen EDDC sharing its Chief Executive with South Somerset District Council is set to come to an end after five years.

Mark Williams has been carrying out the dual role since February 2010, with both authorities sharing the costs on an equal basis. The arrangement was reviewed in 2013 and the contract renewed for a further three years.

ELF to launch fundraising campaign at show

Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) is inviting visitors to the Devon County Show to drop in to the Otter Nurseries stand where they can ‘buy a brick’ and donate to the charity’s Chevithorne Appeal.

ELF Fundraiser, Alison Upton explained: “The Chevithorne Appeal will fund a family suite at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital so that critically ill and end of life patients can be together with their loved ones. By Buying a Brick, the general public can help us to achieve this goal.”

Man dies following Whitestone collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a road traffic collision on the old A30 in Exeter on Tuesday 12 May.

Officers along with fire, ambulance and an air ambulance attended the two-vehicle collision that happened shortly before 12.40pm on Tedburn Road, Whitestone, between Bakers Hill and Path Finder Village.

The driver of the silver Citroën Saxo, a 53-year-old man from Exeter, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

There were no other occupants in this car.

Youngsters are set to camp out at the Met Office this weekend to learn about the science behind weather.

Met Office Science Camps provide a unique opportunity for 11-13 year old students to take part in demonstrations and hands-on activities led by Met Office staff, while camping overnight at Met Office headquarters in Exeter.

The activities cover a wide range of topics which explain how we understand, measure and forecast the weather and climate.

People are being invited to help play their part in decorating Exeter in the lead up to Rugby World Cup 2015.

Scam warning as caller targets Devon homes

Residents of East Devon have been warned to be on their guard against a possible telephone scam in which a caller claims to be representing the local authority.

EDDC has received five reports in the past few days and has been in touch with Devon and Somerset Trading Standards, who are investigating after other incidences were reported to them.
