Galliford Try, constructors of the new A380 South Devon Link Road, have announced that the temporary closure of the bottom of Aller Brake Road will be extended until Sunday 9 August.

The closure was necessary to tie-in the new Aller Link Road which will provide a two-way access route for residents towards Torquay.

The programme has been revised to carry out significant works near to the entrance for Hanson’s Quarry. This was originally scheduled for a later date, which would have incurred a further closure, but by carrying out the works alongside the existing phase the overall disruption to residents and the travelling public will be reduced.

As well as constructing the new road with a retaining wall and parapet above the new dual carriageway, the programme also included the installation of a major storm drain near the junction with the A380 and the realignment of existing services in a tightly confined area.

Once the works are completed, the new local link road will join the existing A380 near to Hanson’s Quarry entrance.
