students celebrating exam result success

Youth Hub Devon - Results Day 2021

This week, thousands of students will be picking up GCSE and A Level exam results, after a most extraordinary and unsettling year in education.  Regardless of what results you, or your children, are anticipating, Youth Hub Devon is on hand to help navigate this next step.    Although students might not have taken physical exams for A levels or GCSEs during the pandemic, in most cases, they still won’t know what results they’re likely to get until they log on or drop into their schools next week.

Advisers at Youth Hub Devon are ready to help people and have lots of information and advice at their fingertips.

Rhian Hawthorne, Youth Hub Devon Coordinator, said: “The key message from us here at Youth Hub Devon is not to panic about your exam results. There are literally hundreds of options available to school and college leavers. Whether that’s higher education, an apprenticeship, or perhaps entering the world of work for the first time, we would urge people to make an appointment and come and talk to us.”

Youth Hub Devon, which operates its advice hub from within the Exeter Works Princesshay space, is aimed specifically at those aged 16-24 in or near the Exeter area which includes East and Mid Devon. It says that its service, funded by Devon County Council, the Department of Work and Pensions and Exeter City Council, is for the many young people whose plans might have changed as a result of the pandemic and that includes those who aren’t sure which direction to take this summer.

Rhian added: “It’s been a tough time during the pandemic and young people in the area have missed out on a lot. But we are keen to show them that there are plenty of opportunities out there and that all is most definitely not lost if they don’t get the results that they might have been expecting.”
