Artist Peter Poole has just completed a film, Otterly Alice, about his Moor Otters sculpture on display in Crediton Community Bookshop in Crediton.

The otter is one of many such sculptures on display throughout Devon, concentrating on the Dartmoor area, which will be auctioned in the autumn to raise funds for the National Trust.

The film shows how Otterly Alice was painted, then features Crediton Community Bookshop where she sits proud amongst publications featuring Alice in Wonderland and otters in the wild.

Audio interviews with shop manager Dee Lallgee and recent town Councillor Heather Sansom give a background to the shop’s philosophy and how the otter came to be there. Finally, Alice features in a short riverbank tale written by Peter in a mock Lewis Carroll style and read by Sussex actress Amanda Urwin-Mann.

The sculpture Otterly Alice can be seen at Crediton Community Bookshop until 16th September 2017, with the film remaining as a record of the project.

The film Otterly Alice can be seen on the YouTube channel, Cineminiatures. The direct link to the video is: https://youtu.be/GU8lVfRUzmc
