M5 death not suspicious
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man's body was located on the main carriageway of the M5 near Willand, Devon
Officers were called on Saturday 18 October at around 2.30am to the M5 northbound between Cullompton (junction 28) and Tiverton (junction 27).
It is believed that the deceased man, a 25-year-old who lived locally, may have fallen from a bridge onto the M5 and subsequently been hit by a number of vehicles.
The man's family has been informed and formal identification is expected to take place later this week.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Both carriageways were closed to enable a thorough investigation of the scene to take place. Diversions were put in place in the area by the Highways Agency.
There was significant traffic disruption in the area as a result and drivers are thanked for their patience.
The southbound carriageway was reopened at around 7.30am and the northbound carriageway was reopened at lunchtime.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 101 of 18 October 2014.
