INCLUSIVE Exeter has received vital funding from HM Government (Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport), administered by The National Lottery Community Fund to continue its Coronavirus Hardship Relief Project.

Inclusive Exeter is a partnership of grassroots community organisations established to give Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people in Exeter a greater voice.

During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Inclusive Exeter provided food to more than 1,000 people, not only from the BAME community but also to anyone who asked across the city and further afield.

Previously the Inclusive Exeter Coronavirus Hardship Relief Project involved preparing and delivering free meals to those facing a tough time, as well as translating guidance on self-isolation, social distancing and lockdown in different languages.

At the height of lockdown, four chefs were cooking and freezing meals which were then delivered by up to 15 volunteers on a rota basis, first on a daily basis, then every other day.
In addition, food parcels were put together and delivered to those in need.

Other volunteers were involved in purchasing commodities, packing the food parcels, taking telephone or requests via social media.

Starting on November 12, 2020, Inclusive Exeter will re-start distributing free food parcels to those in Exeter facing a tough time due to the pandemic.

Whether you or someone you know is elderly, vulnerable, a key worker or otherwise struggling, Inclusive Exeter can help with providing ambient/cupboard food items for free.

The main contacts for food parcels are either Shahar Lashkor on 07865 514485 or email: shahar.lashkor@inclusiveexeter.org.uk or Muktar Ahmed on 07307 72511 or email: muktar.ahmed@inclusiveexeter.org.uk .

Inclusive Exeter will be happy to help if you or someone you know from Exeter is struggling with food.

The project will run for six months to support members of the community and respond to ongoing challenges of Covid-19.
