Visitors at this year’s Devon County Show on May 22-24 at Westpoint, Exeter will be able to enjoy free, superfast wifi wherever they are on the showground thanks to a major investment in the facility.

Devon County Agricultural Association, which owns the showground and stages the annual Show, is working in partnership with Wifi Spark to give visitors and exhibitors fast and reliable access to the internet.

Ollie Allen, Secretary of the Devon County Show, said: “We want everyone who comes to our amazing celebration of the local countryside to have access to the latest technology so that they can share their experiences on social media sites.

“Our exhibitors also need good reliable wifi connections so they can use PDQ, or chip and pin machines, to take debit and credit card payments.”

Thirteen access points around the 93 acre showground will transmit wifi enabling visitors to use their smartphones and tablets throughout their visit.

“We have a day planner on our website which visitors can access on their smartphones to pick out what they would like to see, where and when,” added Ollie.

Wifi users will be asked to log in when connecting to the DCSHOW14 WiFi SPARK network and will be able to enjoy a free service of up to 512Kbps of data.

Anyone who requires higher volumes of data will be able to purchase up to 2Mbps at £10 a day.

The 119th Show, which is celebrating its 25th year at the Westpoint showground, offers plenty of opportunities for sharing pictures. From tucking into some local food and drink, to standing at the ring side to watch prize winning animals, cheering on rugby teams, laughing with Titan the robot and gasping at antipodean antics of the Kangaroo Kids on quad bikes, there is lots to enjoy for everyone in an extravaganza of serious competition and entertainment in six rings.
