Prince Harry was given a local tipple when he went to a World Cup match in Exeter, Devon.

The prince was the VIP guest at the Namibia v Georgia match at Exeter Chief’s Sandy Park ground.

But the local council wanted to make sure the fun loving Royal enjoyed his time in Devon.

So they asked the Exeter Brewery to give him with a pack of locally brewed Avocet beer.

Director Alan Collyer said: ”The council contacted us and asked if we would mind donating some beer to present to a VIP.

“They didn’t tell us who it was but then it was obvious it was Prince Harry was the VIP guest.

”We work with the council on various things. They know of us. They wanted to give Prince Harry a gift from Exeter that was something made here.

“We were greatly honoured that the council chose our product to present to him.

“It was last minute but we donated a packet of our Avocet beer which is our lead brand.

“Initially we were not told who it was for. But it became obvious when it was revealed Harry was coming to Exeter for the game.

“It was handed over in our absence because of all the security that surrounds Harry.”
