Exeter expert to reveal new secrets of Stonehenge
A history and heritage expert will reveal new secrets about Stonehenge at a special lecture in Topsham.
Dr Susan Greaney, an Exeter University lecturer and archaeologist, will lift the lid on the latest discoveries about the monument and the surrounding landscape.
Her talk - entitled New sites, new discoveries, new ideas: the last 10 years of research in the Stonehenge landscape - is the first in Topsham Museum’s summer lecture series.
She says: “We’ll look at new findings relating to the origin of the stones, discoveries of settlements and monuments in the area.
“There will also be revelations about the people buried at Stonehenge and information from recent historical research.”
Dr Greaney is one of the country’s foremost experts in her field.
She’s worked as lead curator for the Stonehenge visitor centre, has undertaken research on archaeological sites for English Heritage, and has been involved in a major exhibition at Tintagel Castle.
Now she brings her expert insights on Stonehenge to Topsham’s Matthews Hall on Thursday April 16.
Doors open to the public at 10.30am and the lecture begins at 11am. Entrance is £6 payable at the door.
