Barchester previews its latest luxury care home

Cumberland Grange, Barchester Healthcare’s new luxury care home in Exeter, is celebrating the official opening of its marketing suite with a ribbon-cutting ceremony presided over by Gina Awad, Founder & Lead of Exeter Dementia Action Alliance.

When the new home opens in summer 2021, it will offer bespoke person-centred residential, dementia and respite care in stunning surroundings. Resident well-being is at the heart of Barchester Healthcare – we offer a café for socialising and enjoying freshly baked treats, spa bathrooms for a luxury bath time experience, beautiful en-suite bedrooms with smart TVs, a choice of comfortable lounges, a dedicated activities room, a cinema for an authentic movie experience, and an in-house hair and beauty salon for a little bit of pampering.

The home is preparing to welcome its first residents in the coming weeks. If you are considering care for yourself or for a loved one, our friendly team of experts at Cumberland Grange is available to answer any questions you may have about what life will be like in our home and the types of support we offer.

Barchester Healthcare is committed to providing a premium caring experience. We take pride in getting to know each of our residents to provide tailored care and support, ensuring dignity and choice in every aspect of daily life. Staff at Cumberland Grange will celebrate life and ensure there is plenty on offer for all tastes and abilities. Once open, the home will provide a dedicated Life Enrichment programme which includes a choice of daily activities including virtual live streaming tours and talks with diverse partners such as English National Ballet, V&A Dundee and Blenheim Palace so that residents can continue to do the things they love, try something new and above all keep the enjoyment in every day.

As a sector-leading care provider, alongside its residential care provision, Barchester Healthcare also delivers the highest quality of dementia care, with all staff trained in specialist dementia care. The home will have a dedicated Memory Lane community which is specially designed to provide the best sensory environment for those living with dementia, and easy for residents to navigate. The Memory Lane community will include a life-skills kitchen to help maintain a level of independence in carrying out daily activities, such as setting the table and helping to prepare food. There will be a ‘Magic Table’, an interactive, multi-sensory projector that offers opportunities to play games in order to increase physical and social interactions, and most of all, to have a bit of fun. Our continually evolving approach to dementia care is developed through the latest research and our own expertise gained over the past 25 years, ensuring residents live a fulfilled, enriched and comfortable life.

At Barchester, we are committed to ensuring all our residents are living life to the fullest.  Our teams work incredibly hard to deliver all kinds of different events and experiences covering a wide variety of topics for our residents to take part in should they choose to do so.  Our talented chefs create delicious home-made meals from scratch three times a day and there are always tasty treats and snacks available in our cafes in case residents get peckish.  We have a number of different visiting options for residents to see friends and family ranging from indoor visiting for five named visitors, garden visits, our comfortable visiting suites plus named visitors can take residents out for local excursions.

Home Services Advisor, Hannah Jenner, comments: “We are thrilled our Marketing Suite is open and ready to welcome visitors. It’s a wonderful way for people to come and find out about the exceptional care we provide, and meet the friendly team who will be looking after our residents.

“Personalised care really is at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking forward to meeting new friends from within the local community and to welcoming our new residents, and their loved ones.”
