Luxury spa opens at The Magdalen Chapter

The Spa at The Magdalen Chapter in Exeter officially opened its doors to the public last month.

The new spa at The Madgalen Chapter has adopted Devon-based REN as its signature spa brand for treatments and products. Described by The Sunday Times as ‘the hip British range that is natural, celebrity endorsed and reassuringly green’, REN Skincare is an internationally loved brand that was founded just outside of Exeter.

Designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, The Spa at The Magdalen Chapter is filled with natural light and clad in pale European oak by British furniture designer Russel Pinch.  The spa has four treatment rooms including one double room that is suitable for couples wanting to enjoy treatments together.  A fitness centre with equipment by TechnoGym is located adjacent.

Nestled within a private walled garden, an ‘inside-out’ pool offers guests a year-round refreshing dip outside, before swimming through to relax in the indoor haven with its wood-burning stove.

Spa Manager Hannah Butland said: “The Spa at The Magdalen Chapter is an incredibly exciting addition to the hotel and to Exeter as a city. It is unique in its vibe, its facilities and in the treatments we are offering. We have four state-of-the-art treatment rooms and a wow-factor inside-out swimming pool that spa guests can enjoy at their leisure.

“I am absolutely delighted that we are partnering with REN in our spa.  REN products and its treatments are gorgeously pleasurable.  Its body treatments are created by shiatsu and naturopathy specialists and leave the skin toned and radiant. The treatments combine techniques inspired by Japanese and Swedish massage that together release muscular tensions and stimulate micro-circulation helping the body return to its natural balance. It is great to be working with another fabulous brand which was born on our doorstep here in Devon.”

REN’s products use the latest hi-tech bio actives and are free from skin-unfriendly synthetic ingredients.  The brand’s philosophy is to create a Clean Bio Active Skincare range that is free from skin-unfriendly ingredients including synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals, sulfate detergents, synthetic colours, animal ingredients and parabens. REN ingredients are so natural that each treatment is suitable for pregnant and breast-feeding mothers.

The special REN Synergy Massage System offers a ‘work out’ for the face, boosting the natural process of protection and repair for beautiful, flawless skin. REN body treatments include ancestral traditions of Japanese acupressure, Swedish and Indian massages, with Egyptian reflexology techniques to release muscular tensions, stimulate micro-circulation and lymph, helping the body to rebalance.

Signature treatments include the 30-minute re-energising Chapter Express Facial, while for total indulgence the Moroccan Rose Ritual offers 150 minutes of bespoke facial and body treatments to relieve stress, uplift and soothe.

REN’s regional Devon links coupled with its green credentials’ and international popularity has made it a natural addition for Chapter Hotels to incorporate into its properties.  The Montpellier Chapter in Cheltenham will also be adopting REN as its signature brand in its award-winning subterranean spa.

The Spa at The Magdalen Chapter is open to guests and non-residents, from 10am until 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am until 6pm on Sunday.
