There is a good reason some 100,000 plus expatriates call Phuket home. Access to good education and hospitals is one drawcard, not to mention great entertainment options, fantastic nature, stunning beaches and easy international travel. If you are considering to buy a condo in Phuket, either as a home or investment, then this article is for you! In it, we are going to break down the top four residential areas you might want to consider. We are going to discuss these hot spots and what the living environment, infrastructure and pricing are like. So, without further ado, let’s jump in and discover the best places to live on the island.

1] Kata

Kata is a vibrant area, with new cafes, restaurants, spa, bars and shops opening constantly. This laid-back and tranquil bay makes for an ideal neighborhood, especially if you’re into healthy living and surfing. From here, you can reach the airport in one hour and make it to the main attractions on the west coast in under half an hour. If you want to make this area your home, you’ll be looking at approximately THB 170 million for an oceanfront pool villa and a more moderate THB 2 million for a sea-view condominium.

2] Cherngtalay

Cherngtalay has long been one of the most desired ‘hoods on the island, thanks to its array of beach clubs, golf resorts, restaurants, boutiques, waterparks and family-friendly offerings. It enjoys a prime location close to several of the island’s top beaches: laguna, Bangtao, Surin, etc. Unfortunately, to live in this desirable part of the island, you’re going to need deep pockets. Property prices here start at around THB 3 million for an average condominium and then jump to a staggering THB 250 million for a luxury villa.

3] Kamala

Every year scores of new visitors to the island are drawn to the easy charm of Kamala. The good news is that despite its popularity this area has yet to be overrun, you can still find tranquil pockets and local life. As with Kata, a local bus service will quickly connect you with the west coast and airport. At present, the northern end of the beach is the hotel zone, with the southern end housing private homes. In-between you’ll find the usual array of shops, cafes, restaurants, massage parlors, 7/11s and so forth. Prices here run similar to Cherngtalay, THB 3.5 million for a condo and THB 260 for a villa.

4] Nai Yang

Thanks to its pristine white-sand beach, welcoming atmosphere and substantial infrastructure, Nai Yang is one of the island’s most beloved neighborhoods. The part of the island is incredibly popular with people who want to get away from the madding crowd and savor privacy. If travel convenience is what you are after, you can’t get better than this, with Phuket’s main airport right on your doorstep. In this area, a home on the beach is what people covet most, these are relatively ‘reasonable’ and go for around THB 40 million for a villa and THB 2.5 for a condo.

We hope you have found this article of use and now you are well on your way to buy a condo in Phuket and make this island paradise your new home.
