Business confidence amongst accommodation providers is at a record high for the summer holidays in a VisitEngland survey published this week. The ‘business confidence’ survey findings also show that out of 500 accommodation providers, more than half are expecting an increase in visitors following the EU referendum outcome with a particular boost expected for the domestic market. English businesses are anticipating a strong summer holiday period with 65% of accommodation providers feeling “very confident” about the summer holidays and 47% reporting forward bookings as “very good” – both...

Retired holidaymakers are needed to take part in new research which aims to discover how giving up work has affected their tourism choices.

Academics from the University of Exeter Business School want to collect data on how people holidayed before and after retirement. They hope this will allow experts to better understand how tourism affects the wellbeing of older people, and how retirement leads to changes in the choice of location and holiday type.

A recent study conducted by luxury travel company, eShores, shows that a third of UK tourists have had their belongings stolen while on holiday.

The study asked 1250 holidaymakers information about which destination they have had belongings stolen, what items they’ve had stolen, and the value of their loss. This gave shocking insights into the scale of theft while on holiday, with 58% of the thefts occurring to people while holidaying in Europe.
