Enjoy a relaxing escape with Mercure Hotels, who are offering the chance to win an overnight stay for two including dinner and breakfast at the newly refurbished 4-star Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel.

Situated directly opposite Exeter Central train station and Rougemont Gardens in the heart of the city, the hotel sits within walking distance of Exeter Quay’s popular bars and restaurants and less than five minutes from both the Castle and Cathedral – making it an ideal choice for a leisurely escape.

During their hotel stay, guests can enjoy an indulgent meal at Drakes Restaurant and Bar with a selection of delicious Brasserie-style food and drink options to choose from, whilst Nelson’s Lounge is the ideal spot to unwind with a nightcap after dinner.

The prize includes an overnight stay for two with breakfast and dinner at the recently refurbished 4-star Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel, perfect for those looking to relax and explore the city during a short break away.

Having just completed an extensive bedroom renovation, the 4-star Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel has tastefully upgraded 90 bedrooms to incorporate elements of the city’s cultural heritage, based on the ancient woollen trade in the South West.

The newly updated bedrooms take inspiration from Exeter’s famous textile industry, once known as the centre for the woollen trade in the South West. With neutral colours and natural materials used to refresh the carpets, curtains and bed-linen, each room is complemented further with newly fitted modern rain-showers and refreshed en-suite bathrooms.

Guests need not step outside of the hotel’s doors to soak up Exeter’s fascinating past either, with charming, original features still visible throughout the property. Built over 130 years ago on the site of a women’s prison, a beautiful stained-glass window has proudly featured in the lobby since being originally commissioned in 1879.

The bar area also boasts a traditional fireplace dating back to the 16th Century, which creates an ideal place for guests to relax and unwind.
