59 is the age pin-pointed by a survey as THE year to start growing old gracefully. The survey also reveals that women are eschewing cosmetic surgery and fillers, and believe that heavy make-up and mini-skirts should be given the heave-ho by the early 40’s. With Christmas party dressing on most women’s agenda in the coming week, choosing your party outfit and make-up could be a minefield if you are over 40.

77 per cent of those polled in the South West say women should grow old gracefully and not do everything they can to look younger.

The research, which polled 2000 women...

Last weekend to enjoy 'You With Me' in Exeter

For the past few weekends, right in the heart of Exeter and under your noses, a new and very different form of theatre has been taking place.

In You With Me , there’s no stage, no visible actors, no audience sitting comfortably. Instead, this production offers a personal, unique and totally different experience, taking participants on a journey through Exeter and guiding them on a playful adventure in which unexpected incidents cause familiar routes to be seen with fresh eyes.

The perfomance starts with a phone call to a stranger - you know not what they look like...

One third of the way through your season and you are probably bored of your warm up. Don't worry: only another 6 months to go!

When working with athletes I stress the importance of the warm up as something to get better at, not something to get through. I use 4-5 different warm up themes, and add smaller variations as the season goes on.

Here are some ideas:

  • Use gymnastics as part of the warm up: rolling, tumbling and balancing.
  • Get on the ground and off the ground, don't keep in one plane of movement.
  • Use partner

Health and training tips - a different outlook!

Recently I attended a internship where the speakers were all gurus in their choosen fields, ranging from fitness and strenght to toxicity and health. Here are some of the points discussed:

Poorly fed (grain fed), hormonally enhanced and mass produced animals are more often than not also toxic animals. They store these toxins in the fatty parts of their flesh, just like us! These toxins are then passed up the food chain to us, this is another reason to ‘go organic’. If you decide not to bother with organic / grass fed meat at least cut off the fatty bits to reduce your...

LONDON (AP) — British television channel ITV has confirmed that hit drama "Downton Abbey" will return for a fourth season.

Filming of eight new episodes for the award-winning period series will begin in southern England's Highclere Castle and London's Ealing Studios early next year.

ITV said Friday that as before, the opening and closing episodes will be feature-length, and that the series will continue the story of the Crawley family and their servants in the 1920s.

The channel said that an extended special episode for next Christmas is also planned.

Local talent wows the crowds at Princesshay

The day's delay in the Christmas lights switch on just seemed to add to the air of anticipation this evening, when the people of Exeter came out in force to kickstart Christmas and watch the evening's performers.

And they were not to be disappointed. The evening started with a swing with music from the Exeter University Jazz Orchestra, closely followed by an impressive performance from Exeter-born singer-songwriter Chris Ostler.

Along with appearances from big names such as The Voice star Adam Isaac - sporting an Exeter City FC shirt - the Lympstone...

Getting your hair in tip top condition for Christmas

We only have a few more weeks until the party season really kicks into action, so treating your hair now is important to ensure it is looking its very polished, shiny and lustrous best.

First and foremost with your hair's condition in mind before your Christmas colour and the added damaging and aggressive cold, start with some TLC for your hair. Use a conditioning masque or treatment ritual once a week to add protein and moisture to the hair and strengthen the hair structure and even out the porosity of the hair. This will prepare your hair for even the most vigorous of...

NEW YORK (AP) — Airports, train stations and highways were expected to remain busy as people made their way home to reconnect with family and friends for Thanksgiving — although some reunions might be bittersweet because of the damage and displacement caused by Superstorm Sandy.

For some, the once-sacrosanct harvest feast now starts the holiday shopping season — and store openings keep getting earlier. Black Friday now starts on Thanksgiving day itself at many national stores and some shoppers eagerly race from their dinner tables to line up for bargains, delaying their second...
