Free Tai Chi instruction will now be available at the opening event for the much improved Jubilee Gardens on the seafront in Seaton (in front of the clock tower) on Saturday 4 May. There will also be live musicians and chess lessons on offer.

ABC Tai Chi, which offers regular beginners classes at Seaton Town Hall, has kindly offered to run a completely free Tai Chi taster session from 11.40 a.m. for an hour. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done Tai Chi before and if you have limited mobility you can even take part sitting down.

Tai Chi is a form of exercise suitable for all ages and abilities. It is a mixture of a lot of disciplines and has its roots in martial arts. It can help with concentration, balance, stress, physical problems and pain control.

East Devon District Council has been working closely with local people to make the £35,000 worth of eagerly anticipated improvements. The new area will include some amphitheatre-style seating looking out to sea, tables that are also chess / draughts boards and interpretation panels explaining something about the history of the area.

The official opening event will be from 11am-1pm and you will also be able to play giant outdoor games, learn chess from Seaton Chess Club and listen to acoustic music played by local musicians.

The music will be provided by Kevin Gibbs, an acoustic guitarist who also performs in local band The Magic Worms, and Adam Sweet, acoustic blues guitarist, who plays throughout the South West www.adamsweetmusic.com
