A bus service with a difference is to be launched in Devon catering for foodies and partygoers looking for a new al fresco eating-out experience.

On The Green bus is a restaurant on wheels with a dining room on the top floor and a first-class catering kitchen and bar below.

The bus is available for private parties or events but will also be taking to the roads of South Devon so diners can eat, drink, and take in some of the jewels of the area.

Customers will be able to mix and match five routes with five menus of locally sourced, top-class food – or create their own exclusive trips and menus for one-off events.

The bus is the brainchild of the award-winning team from The Sloop at Bantham. They bought the 1965 open top London bus in January and have been doing it up ever since.

“We wanted to do something that was a bit different, bags of fun, but stylish and classy too,” says owner and manager Rod Seymour.

“We knew it would be amazing to take to events such as the Devon County Show or food and drink festivals, but we wanted to be able to take our guests out on the move in this incredible environment, to experience this area of the country in all it’s glory while enjoying beautifully cooked local food and a glass or two of something fizzy.

“It’s gone 980,000 miles already and we’re hoping that someone will book it to go a million miles!”

The bus can seat thirty people upstairs and has a bespoke music system and heating. Outdoor games such as croquet are provided for guests and fire pits will be lit at final destinations while the meal is being prepared. On The Green Bus has her own awning if required and can cater for a broad range of events.

On The Green Bus will be launched at the Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival in Kingsbridge from 7pm on 21 and 22 June 2013.
