Just when the euphoria of the last two victories hit peak after crushing Grimby Town and Bolton Wanderers, the tables took a turn. The Grecians dropped points in a fixture against Barrow. This draw ruins the hopes of the play-off in League Two as they ended in the 9th spot. Jake Taylor was poised to take the team to the sixth position after Matt Jay found the back of the net before halftime.

Qualification for playoffs and promotion

The remaining games for playoff qualification look favorable. There are 2 more games remaining and 4 teams Exeter need to slip up and lose points to propel the club int a playoff position for promotion. More so, after this fleet of games, players should also know where they stand. While the likes of Matt Jay are in the form of their life, winning the club's player of the year award, the time of the captain Jake Taylor has come to an end in the club.

Looking for something new

It may seem like the 29-year-old is seeking an exit in search of greener pastures, but there are deeper reasons. According to the English winger, his four-year-old daughter is set to resume school in September. More so, the player and his wife Catherine are expecting a baby in a couple of weeks. Jake Taylor believes this is the perfect time to put family first as he wants to move back home to Berkshire.

Jake Taylor exit announced!

As he announced his exit intentions on 12th May 2021, Taylor made it clear that this heart will always be with the Devon-based club. Since joining the team in January 2016, it has been a ballad of great experiences and relationships.

His emotional stakes in the club became even higher after becoming the captain of the side in 2018. Despite all of these great times, every good thing should come to an end for other fantastic experiences to begin. Once they are back home, Luna would not have to move from one school to another. And since they are expecting a child, there would be family and close friends on the ground to assist when their son is born.

Age a big factor

Furthermore, age is not on his side, and perhaps he is very careful to get a great deal even when he is clocking 30. The winger is also looking forward to wearing a different jersey number and playing out of his comfort zone. He also made it very clear that the destination club is not sure yet, but there are offers from League One and League Two.

No goodbyes!

As a huge force in the team's success, Jake did not get the opportunity to say his byes in the deserved way as the team had very bad outings in their last fixtures especially on home turf. Also he played his last game in front of an empty stadium without fans.

The player used another avenue as he made the statement “However, I do at least have this opportunity to express my gratitude to everyone who has made my time at the club such a joy. Thank you so much for everything and up the city!".
