Celebrating 100 Years of Morecambe and Wise: Eric and Ern Comes to Exeter

Eric and Ern, the new show from Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens - the Olivier nominated duo behind the hugely celebrated and critically acclaimed West End hit Eric & Little Ern - will be coming to Exeter Northcott Theatre from Wednesday 16 to Sunday 20 December, as the culmination of an extensive Autumn/Winter UK tour.

The show’s 2026 national tour is a mark of celebration for the 100th birthdays of Eric Morecambe (born 14 May 1926) and Ernie Wise (born 17 November 1925) and their legendary comedy partnership.

The summer’s not over just yet as the Picturehouse Outdoor cinema pitches up in the idyllic canal-side setting of the Double Locks pub for three nights of cinema under the stars.

From 30 Aug – 1 Sep Picturehouse outdoors returns for a weekend of singing, dancing and time travel, with the backdrop of some of Devon’s most beautiful countryside. Films will start around dusk, but arrive earlier to enjoy the evening sun with a refreshing beverage from the pub and something delicious from their kitchen.

The day will showcase an impressive range of cars and costumes from popular films including Transformers, Batman, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Disney Pixar’s Cars and many more.

Week full of carnival fun in Seaton

The first illuminated carnival in the East Devon circuit will be transforming the streets of Seaton on Saturday 31August.

Free exhibition about the Dartmoor Search and Rescue teams

A free exhibition at the Princetown Visitor Centre is throwing a spotlight on the 220 volunteers who selflessly give their time to staff the four teams that make up the Dartmoor Rescue Group (DRG). The display explores half a century of the dramatic and sometimes harrowing search and rescue work of lost or injured people that the men and women undertake both on the moor and further afield.

The exhibition runs until 2 October and is open daily from 10am – 5pm.

DRG Chairman Alec Collyer CBE said: “What we do is for lovers of the moor by lovers of the moor.”
