Candlelit concert brings classical magic to Exeter

Internationally acclaimed chamber orchestra London Concertante will perform in Exeter Cathedral on Friday 5th September at 7.30pm, offering an atmospheric candlelit concert of classical favourites.

The evening’s programme includes Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro overture, Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons — three of the most enduring and beloved works in the repertoire.

Exeter’s Bike Shed Theatre has been shortlisted as one of the UK’s most welcoming theatres in a national competition. More than 225 theatres were put forward for the award before being narrowed down to a shortlist of seven theatres by a public vote. Oxjam Exeter has announced some of the venues that will together host up to 120 live music acts during the Oxjam Exeter Takeover weekend, taking place on 19 and 20 October 2013.

Running from 25 to 28 September at Exeter's Northcott Theatre on Streatham Campus, this bitter-sweet comedy written by Willy Russell and starring Mary Elliot and Eddie Holden, is an absolute treat for anyone aged 18 years or above (it contains some strong language). Originally commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company in June 1980 and starring Julie Walters and Mark Kingston, it was immediately a big hit at the box office. Organisers of the fifth annual Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival have reported a record breaking year selling the highest number of tickets in the festival’s history.

This year’s festival, which took place from 19th – 22nd September attracted international interest with organisers taking orders for tickets from the other side of the globe.
